The Adversary:

So, for tonight I am going to be talking about choices and how they affect us when we as Christians come to throne of God. A Little bit of history is that buddy of mine gave though of this back in College. We ended up calling it God’s Court room. well we all hear it at the end of the every sermon. There is going to be a day, when we all come to Throne of God. we are going to be talking about two being tonight and what their role is to us Christians once we leave earth. The First one is our Adversary Satan. Well for starters we have to understand is that we are not here to fight a physical war but a spiritual one Eph 6:12
Ephesians 6:12 NKJV
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
We come to understand that Devil/Satan has been around since the creation of world we see that in Genesis. We also come to understand that Satan is a mastermind of leading other astray into bondage of sin and death because he known for how to make everything tempting look good and fun. As Christians we must be weary of the lion who seek to devour us turn in your Bible to 1st Peter 5:8
1 Peter 5:8 NKJV
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Satan is not an average spiritual being, he is known God, Christ, and mankind. we see that Satan manage to corrupt one out of three. Mankind being the weak had fallen into temptation back in Gen 3. Back when the serpent convince Eve to eat of the fruit from the tree of Knowledge of good and evil, and that she gave some to her husband who also chose to eat of the fruit. Because of what had happen in Genesis mankind had been separated from God. which lead us to the next target for Satan which was God himself. lets go ahead turn in our Bibles to Job 1:12
Job 1:6–12 NKJV
6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. 7 And the Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?” So Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.” 8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?” 9 So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!” 12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
From this passage here in the first Chapter of Job we come to see that Satan challenge God by kind of saying Mankind has no need for God because they have abandon his teaching, his law. On the other hand we see that God also had a plan in which he offer his most loyal servant Job. Job who was afflicted by Satan did not once curse God. God knowing what would happen knew the outcome that Job was going win. this allow us to look at Satan next target who was Jesus Christ. Lets turn in our Bible to Mt 4:1
Matthew 4:1 NKJV
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
Some of you know this particular story of Jesus Christ, right after he was baptized by John the spirit lead Jesus out in the wilderness to be tested by Satan. the wilderness was the location of a battle. The same type of Battle that every Christian faces today which is a spiritual battle. not only that Satan tries to used God’s word against Christ in this particular battle. Which leads us to our next being who is in court room. None other than Jesus Christ himself because he is our advocate turn in your Bibles to 1st John 2:1
1 John 2:1 NKJV
1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
we as Christians understand that if we follow God, by doing the will of God, being obedient to God nothing is impossible because of Jesus Christ who died for our sins. Jesus understand the limitations of the flesh and how weak it is. turn in your Bibles to Hebrews 4:15-16
Hebrews 4:15–16 NKJV
15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Now if we back track a bit we come to understand that Satan knew the whole value of Christ, and all he had to do was lead him astray, by leading him into the temptation of sin when they were out in the wilderness. Jesus being the son of God stuck to doing the will of God the father by obeying God. Now that we know the two spiritual being that are standing in front of the throne of God. We have Choice to make in this life. there two very important decision 1 are we going to follow God become a Christian, and the 2 is who we marry in this life. Because once we leave this earth are we going to chose the best layer to defend us against Satan, the who has our back, the one that says that we are his or are we going to try defend ourselves against master of temptation, the one who knows everything we did wrong in this life by saying that we are guilty. If you are struggle in this life, if you have question, or seeking to be forgiven of sins please come forward as we stand and sing.
