Asking For Forgiveness

Christians have been forgiven of every past, present, and future sin.
Colossians 2:13–14 “And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.”
Galatians 2:16 “yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.” (See Ephesians 2:8-9)
Hebrews 10:14 “For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.”
Though we have been forgiven, we need daily forgiveness and growth in sanctification.
See John 13:6-11...
Psalm 51:12 “Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.”
See Hebrews 12:5-11...
John 6:37 “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.”

The Call to Forgive

We are called to forgive as Christ has forgiven us.
Luke 17:3–4 “Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.””
Colossians 3:12–13 “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.”
The Key to Forgiving
Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
Luke 7:47 “Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.””
