Introduction

Hello Dwell, this is Kenneth.
[1 second pause]
Today is Friday, October 18th. Thanks for joining us for today's Dwell Kids Daily!
[2 seconds of silence]
For the next few minutes, I invite you to join me as we look to our Great King by opening our hearts to hear from Him through the words of the Bible.
[2 seconds of silence]
Silence
As we begin, let us remember that God calls His people, young and old, to be still and know that He is God. Let's take a few seconds to clear our minds, so that we can hear him better.
[5 seconds of silence]
Opening Prayer
(Friday)
Loving Lord, we delight in your counsel. Today, help our hearts be glad as we receive your words.
[3 seconds of silence]
Passage
Today’s passage come from the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans. Chapter 8 verses 5-6.
English Standard Version (Chapter 4)
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Exhortation
Now, I thought we might start today by getting a little nerdy. I want to teach you a very ancient word from the Bible, it’s a Hebrew word. Maybe you’ve heard it before? It’s the word, shalom. Can you say shalom? Our question is, what does this word shalom mean? When God made humans he put them in a lush garden, where everything was as it should be. Everything in the garden, the grass, the flowers, the trees, the birds, the bunnies, and the beavers…and even the humans were all flourishing and thriving in the presence of God. No sadness, no pain, no death. Everything in just the right place, and everything working as it should. Can you picture it? This wonderful picture of the garden of Eden is a good definition of the word shalom.
Shalom is when everything is going as it should. Everything is working in harmony, just like God intended it.
Before Adam and Eve sinned the world was in a state of shalom, but after they broke God’s good rule and were exiled out of the garden, our world lost shalom. Things didn’t work as they should. Arguments, fighting, sickness, striving, and death became normal in human life. I bet you have experienced some of this. In fact, we all have.
But here is the good news. God wants us to have shalom. He’s making all things new and putting things right!
Call to Action: Let’s take a few seconds, right now, reflect on our passage. How should we go about our day today, following our selfish desires or following the Holy Spirit?
[7 seconds of silence]
Closing Prayer
Let’s pray together.
[3 seconds of silence]
Father, lead us by your Holy Spirit into the way of life and peace. Help us to put your good will above our selfish will. Guide us in all truth and goodness so that we can be a blessing to those around us. We ask this in the wonderful name of Jesus. Amen.

Outro

"It's been great to be with you today."
Tomorrow, we'll be in Ezekiel 36. Until then, go in peace, and let the word of King Jesus dwell in you richly.
[2 seconds of silence]
