Be a winner get Jesus
Mike told me a story on the time of a time when he was working(highway patrol) he had walked in a convenience store just whistling and clerk was not happy about him being so happy he just told her he got shot and killed that night that before she could blink her eye he would be at the feet of Jesus and if he didn’t he had a wife and daughter waiting for him at home.
Victory as an act of God
Synopsis
God is the source of all victory, which he grants to those who obey his commands and put their confidence in him. This principle holds true in all believers’ conflicts, whether physical or spiritual.
God is the source of all victory
1 Corinthians 15:57 (KJV 1900) — 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Victory is achieved by God, not people
Ps 20:7–8
Psalm 20:7–8 (KJV 1900) — 7Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: But we will remember the name of the Lord our God. 8 They are brought down and fallen: But we are risen, and stand upright.
Victory should be credited to God
Victory depends on faithfulness
God grants victory to those who are faithful to him
Exodus 23:20–23 (KJV 1900) — 20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.
Unfaithfulness to God brings defeat
Numbers 14:41–43 (KJV 1900) — 41 And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the Lord? but it shall not prosper.
Deuteronomy 28:15 (KJV 1900) — 15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
Victory of Jesus Christ
Synopsis
Jesus Christ triumphs over and disarms all the powers of evil arrayed against him. Believers are able to share in this victory through faith in Jesus Christ.
The scope of Jesus Christ’s victory
Over temptation
Heb 4:15
Hebrews 4:15 (KJV 1900) — 15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Over sin
1 John 3:8 (KJV 1900) — 8He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1 John 3:5 (KJV 1900) — 5And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
Over Satan
Hebrews 2:14–15 (KJV 1900) — 14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
Over evil spirits
Mk 1:23–27
Mark 1:23–27 (KJV 1900) — 23And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, 24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. 25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. 26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him. 27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.
Over all powers
Col 2:15 “powers and authorities” include evil spiritual beings.
Colossians 2:15 (KJV 1900) — 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Romans 8:38–39 (KJV 1900) — 38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:24–25 (KJV 1900) — 24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
Over the world
Jn 16:33 Here, as elsewhere in John’s Gospel, “world” refers to the human race in rebellion against God.
John 16:33 (KJV 1900) — 33These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Over death
Ro 6:9
Romans 6:9 (KJV 1900) — 9Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
1 Corinthians 15:54–57 (KJV 1900) — 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Revelation 1:18 (KJV 1900) — 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
The manner of Jesus Christ’s victory
By the written word of God

By his death on the cross

By God’s authority
