Abram’s Call:
Genesis 12:1–3 KJV 1900
Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Abram heeds the Lord’s calling taking with him his wife Sarai and Lot his brother’s son. They pass through Sichem, unto the plain or Moreh, and the Canaanite was in the land. God again visits Abram and promises to him that he will give the land to his seed, and Abram built an alter unto the Lord. Abram then pitched his tent between Beth-el and Hai, with Beth-el to his west and Hai to the east. Then Abram journeyed toward the south. Abram went down into to Egypt because of a great famine before returning to Beth-el and Hai… (Gen. 12:4-13:4)
In Beth-el and Hai there begins to be strife between Abram’s headsmen and Lot’s. Abram decides that they must separate and gives Lot choice of the land. Lot beheld the plain of Jordan (east)
Genesis 13:11–12 KJV 1900
Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other. Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.
God then confirms his promise again to Abram (Gen. 13:14-18)
Genesis 13:18 KJV 1900
Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord.
