Luke 22:31–34 ESV
31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, 32 but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” 33 Peter said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death.” 34 Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.”

Introduction

You have to think with a destination in mind.
Where are you going? Are you fighting against the will of God or moving towards God?
Whether you know it or not - you are in a fight
Take me higher……is rooted in the need to want to be seen or be validated by other - the pat on the back.
Your mind is a part of the image the the image of God.
Think, Do, Become.
Don’t be hearers of the word, but Do’ers
As a mind thinketh IN HIS HEART SO IS HE - Heart = inward self where feelings, emotions, and thinking occur.
How to become unshakeable
—-
In the 22nd Luke chapter Jesus is approaching end of his ministry. In fact, Luke records the crucification in the very next chapter.
To lay the foundation, Jesus is at the last supper,
He has predicted the one who would betray him is amongst him and peter who would deny him
He has cleaned the templet of merchants
Peter James and John has witness jesus transfigured
Along with teachings and Miracles .
Luke 2:47–52 ESV
47 And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48 And when his parents saw him, they were astonished. And his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.” 49 And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” 50 And they did not understand the saying that he spoke to them. 51 And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.
Luke's genealogy differs from Matthew's,
Abraham and works forward, while Luke works backward in time from Jesus to the beginning Adam.
Solomon records Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof -
Luke is unique for he take us from fulfillment (Jesus) to Adam in Genesis
Why does Luke work backwards from Jesus to Adam? because Jesus is the fulfillment of Gen 3:15
Genesis 3:15–17 ESV
15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” 16 To the woman he said, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be contrary to your husband, but he shall rule over you.” 17 And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;
In other words, Luke has to make the connection that JESUS has arrived to redeem humanity
Even in the Chastisement or rather the wrath of God - God will provided an outcome for you to obtain the victory at some moment. ( a kairos moment) f
Moments are Important
God exist outside of time and space - which means he sits far above anything the human mind can mentally fathom.
You can NOT rush God.
You can try but you will never be able to Force the hand of God to deliver what suites you best.
We get confused because there are things GOD will permit or allow - in our ignorance, we began to think, because “it” was successful and you did not “suffer a consequence” God must not be “completely” fed up.
In ignorance, we will wait to see the wrath of God before we make a change. In other words, LORD if this is really unpleasing SHOW ME SIGN.
Biblically we see time represented in two forms.
Chronos - Which is a chronological representation of time. 1,2,3…Monday-Friday. January - December. This is time as as we know it.
In the New Testament, In the greek ”kairos" is often used to denote the right or appointed Season or a time for God’s intervention or action
Not on your time, but God’s timing
This is Why you can not AFFORD to indulge in disobedience or defy God and or Have a lack of Faith in your kairos season.
Moments are Important.
God told Samuel to go to Bethlehem and anoint one of Jesse's sons as the next king. When David’s Kiaros moment arrived he was where he was suppose to be
These seasons require your faith to be rooted in JESUS CHRIST. My Hope is BUILT on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness
Without him shedding his blood there would be NO hope for your redemption, there would be NO FAVOR, there would be NO way of escape
But be unto God for those who are in christ are now Free and no longer SLAVES TO SIN.
SLAVES TO Unforgivness
SLAVES TO Promiscuity
SLAVES TO Jealousy
SALVES TO Validation
Some of us are looking for validation from MAN and not GOD.
Galatians 1:10–13 ESV
10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. 11 For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man’s gospel. 12 For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ. 13 For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it.
Paul is a Pharisee of Pharisees.
A former persecutor of the church and violently tried to destroy it Doing what he thought was right - He set out to advance judaism and followings the tradition of his fathers.
v15
Galatians 1:14–16 ESV
14 And I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers. 15 But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace, 16 was pleased to reveal his Son to me, in order that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with anyone;
Philippians 3:5–9 ESV
5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; 6 as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless. 7 But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—
Genesis 17:12 - God’s covent with Abraham says every male circumcised on the 8th day
Colossians 2:11–12 ESV
11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.
Pauls writing here are rooted his in the conversion experience.
It is his Faith and Confidence in Jesus that allows speak to the church as Philip, Colossia and Galita to speak to the faith and saving grace of jesus christ.

Luke 22:31 ESV
31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat,

Satan desires to have you

I. This saying of Jesus is a very mysterious one; it reveals to us something of what is going on in the unseen world.”
II. The wheat represents those who are valuable and worthy
You have value. Everything you went through is a part of Gods plan.
We are not told exactly how the enemy had proceeded in his plea for Peter’s soul - he would later deny christ.
Don’t say what you would NOT do -
Ephesians 6:12 ESV
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Watch as well as pray

Matthew 26:41 ESV
41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Satan’s intends to strip you of your value and Ruin your influence
Satan asked to try Job
When you’re called/ chosen by GOD you will be TEST
He believed that he had what it took to stand with Jesus to the end, even the bitter end of death.
Peter didn’t know what fear could produce in his life.
He needed to fall and hurt himself in order to discover that without Christ he could do nothing.

Satan is after your Faith

It was very important for Peter to get to know himself.
Luke 22:32–34 ESV
32 but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” 33 Peter said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death.” 34 Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.”
The Prayer of Jesus does not Stop SATAN, but rather encourage peter to endure
For this to happen Jesus had prayed an intercessory prayer for His disciple, which would not keep him from the temptation and not even prevent him from falling, but which would assure his repentance.
Jesus addresses Peter as “Simon, Simon.” The Adam Clarke’s Commentary comments on this: “When a name is thus relocated in the sacred writings, it appears to be always intended as an expression of love, manifested by a warning voice. As if he had said, While thou and the others are contending for supremacy, Satan is endeavoring to destroy you all: but I have prayed for thee, as being in most danger.”
Your mind is a part of the image that (adj) the image of God. Man was created in the image of God.
Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus.
Hebrews 11:1–12 ESV
1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. 2 For by it the people of old received their commendation. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. 4 By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks. 5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. 7 By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. 8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9 By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. 10 For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God. 11 By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.
Hebrews 12:1–2 ESV
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Luke 22:54–62 ESV
54 Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest’s house, and Peter was following at a distance. 55 And when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them. 56 Then a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the light and looking closely at him, said, “This man also was with him.” 57 But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.” 58 And a little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.” 59 And after an interval of about an hour still another insisted, saying, “Certainly this man also was with him, for he too is a Galilean.” 60 But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. 61 And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.” 62 And he went out and wept bitterly.
