Staying on fire for God!

When your oil light comes on in your car it indicates that your oil level is low or near empty. It indicates that there is more oil needed in order for the vehicle to run safely without the engine blowing. If your engine blows, your engine needs to be replaced. Being in the condition listed here is similar to burn out. When we get burned out, the anointing on our life is unable to manifest.
How many people do we know that were once on fire for God have either given up or walked away or just turned back toward the sin that they were delivered from? I’m talking about Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers? How many Singers, Choir members, Deacons, Trustees, Mothers, and prayer warriors have just walked away from God? Oftentimes it was all about them. They did not use wisdom.
The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, and they that lack the beginning have neither middle nor end.
John Bunyan
Wisdom is something that God gives freely if we ask him. Trusting in ourselves makes us at times forget about God because we believe our anointing can handle it.
We often trust in our gifts more than the spirit of God. But we neglect to use wisdom in the operation of our gifting and we end up falling short of what God had desired of us.
Surely the essence of wisdom is that before we begin to act at all, or attempt to please God, we should discover what it is that God has to say about the matter.
David Martyn Lloyd-Jones (Welsh Preacher and Writer)
The scripture shows that although the all had the same vessels, they did not have the dilligence to handle their gifting. Five of them were wise, or provident, which means that they took care to make a proper provision beforehand, and left nothing to be done in the last moment. ( Truly a word to the wise)
The other five were foolish or careless. These did not see that it was necessary to have oil in their vessels, (meaning the salvation of GOd in their souls) as well as a burning lamp of religious profession. They were serious about the things of God, not treating it like a used toy; not cherishing it as precious as they should have the oil that was supposed to be in their lamps.
Take care not to begin anything of which you may repent.
“Consideration is the parent of wisdom.”

Many people spend so much time publishing their own ministry that they forget that it is the ministry of Jesus Christ that we are called to promote. Some have successful businesses and forget about the God who gave us the business. We give so much time to our agendas that we burn out or run out of oil. Then we realize that we have not given God as much time needed to keep our oil full. We have not private prayer lives; no private worship sessions; no times of thanksgiving to the Lord. It’s all about us, our house, our car, our business, our children. Scripture says “no man who has left father, mother, brothers or sisters, wife or children and lands, for my sake and for the gospel’s 30) who shall no receive a hunderfold now in this time......
What does it mean to keep your lamps burning? It means to turn on the light. It means to say, “I refuse to be more affected by this phantom than I am about the reality.”
Timothy Keller
It is because the few who profess to have the oil of grace in their vessels with their lamps, have not become burning and shining lights in the world. It is because missionaries are few.
Ellen Gould White
If we want a love message to be heard, it has to be sent out. To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it.
Blessed Mother Teresa (Nun and Founder of the Missionaries of Charity)
Keep the altar of private prayer burning.
Charles Spurgeon
Let us rejoice in the truth, wherever we find its lamp burning.

We cannot be blameless if we murmur and dispute, for such things naturally lead to sin. Our lights cannot shine if instead of trimming them we occupy ourselves with blowing out the lamps of others.
Charles Spurgeon
As churches and as individuals, we need to keep our lamps burning with the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Thomas Schreiner
The word translated “trimmed their lamps,” kosmeo, means “put in order” and could refer to preparing their torches, which were usually made with rags soaked in oil.
Bruce B. Barton
I would not give much for your religion unless it can be seen. Lamps do not talk, but they do shine.
Charles Spurgeon
You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light” (Psalm 18:28).
June Hunt
So we must examine ourselves and see if our light is really shining. If your light is shining, you will not have to tell anyone; they will see it. When we get out of self, the glorious light of God can be see by all men. People rejoice in the light shining through you! When we allow God to shine through us, men and women are drawn to us. But we must be careful that those whose lights once shined and now has gone out do not try to gleen off of our light. The want to be around us because others are touched by the ministry of Christ in us. Whether young or old, they can still rejoice in the light of God in our lives. Pslam 34:2 says, “My soul shall make it boast in the Lord; The humble (believers) shall hear of it and be glad”. They hear when you speak the word in your conversation. When you constantly uplift the Lord, men and women will be drawn to the Christ in you!
First, a word about wisdom. What is it? We must not confuse it with knowledge. Knowledge is information; wisdom is application. Knowledge is comprehending facts; wisdom is handling life. Knowledge is theoretical; wisdom is practical.
Roger Ellsworth
This is our wisdom, to be learners to the end.
John Calvin (French Reformer)
Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise … There is no fool so great as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom.
Charles Spurgeon
That is the, You don’t have to tell me! I already know!
It is better to get wisdom than gold. Gold is another’s, wisdom is our own; gold is for the body and time, wisdom for the soul and eternity.
Matthew Henry (Nonconformist Biblical Exegete)
The kind of wisdom that God waits to give to those who ask him is a wisdom that will bind us to himself.

Wisdom is not the growth of human genius. It must be sought from above.
John Calvin (French Reformer)
Let’s not be foolish, self promoting, self aggrandizing, blowing up our spot, and leading people no where with our ignorance.
Wisdom, then, is not a matter of memorizing proverbs and applying them mechanically and absolutely. Wisdom is knowing the right time and the right circumstance to apply the right principle to the right person.

We should be able to recognize when we are low on oil. There is no inspiration coming from us because it is burned out. When the same oil is over used it becomes black and grainy; before we get to that point in time, we should be back on our knees; we should be fasting; we should be praying and we should never leave our word for the excitement that the world gives. Be wise and stay before the Lord. Our assignment is more important than we are. And each one of us has been given and assignment to share the gospel with as many people that we can.
