HOW DO WE RESPOND TO HIS GLORY?

Pray
What is the GLORY of the LORD?
How did people in the bible respond to the LORD’S GLORY?
Paul and Silas Singing in the prison. (Acts 16:24-25)
The Widow give all that she had to give. (Mark 12:41-44)
Abraham was willing to sacrifice his only son Isaac. (Genesis 22:12-14)
David danced before the LORD. (2 Samuel 6:14-22)
Job placed his hand over his mouth. (Job 40:4)
Background to Exodus 33.
At Mount Sinai
Spent a year there
They were there to receive GOD’s Law.
This is the place they would receive the Ten Commandments.
Exodus 33:12–13 CSB
Moses said to the Lord, “Look, you have told me, ‘Lead this people up,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor with me.’ Now if I have indeed found favor with you, please teach me your ways, and I will know you, so that I may find favor with you. Now consider that this nation is your people.”
WE need You and your presence!!!!
It is all about GOD, Moses was not willing to depend on just what he had to offer.
Exodus 33:14 CSB
And he replied, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
presence = MY FACE
Success, I have got what I was asking the LORD for.
Exodus 33:15–16 CSB
“If your presence does not go,” Moses responded to him, “don’t make us go up from here. How will it be known that I and your people have found favor with you unless you go with us? I and your people will be distinguished by this from all the other people on the face of the earth.”
Moses is desperate for the LORD presence.
Exodus 33:17 CSB
The Lord answered Moses, “I will do this very thing you have asked, for you have found favor with me, and I know you by name.”
found favor
“I KNOW YOU BY NAME”
This is the type of relationship we are to seek with the LORD.
Exodus 33:18 CSB
Then Moses said, “Please, let me see your glory.”
Moses hungered for GOD’s presence.
Had Moses already seen GOD’s Glory.
It wasn’t enough that he had see GOD’s glory in the past he was still seeking the Glory of the LORD.
Exodus 33:19–20 CSB
He said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim the name ‘the Lord’ before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” But he added, “You cannot see my face, for humans cannot see me and live.”
Yes, I will show you my goodness!!!
“ I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you”
the name of the LORD is His charter.
Are you seeking the charter of GOD today.
Exodus 33:21–23 CSB
The Lord said, “Here is a place near me. You are to stand on the rock, and when my glory passes by, I will put you in the crevice of the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will take my hand away, and you will see my back, but my face will not be seen.”
Moses had to put himself in a place to see GOD’s glory.
Are you in the place you need to be to see GOD’s glory.
You won’t always be on the Mountain top but you should be visiting form time to time.
There are time when GOD wants to show us HIS glory but we are to lazy to make the journey up the mountain.
Moses found protection form the hand of the LORD.
This change Moses but first he seek the face of GOD.
Luke 24:36–49 CSB
As they were saying these things, he himself stood in their midst. He said to them, “Peace to you!” But they were startled and terrified and thought they were seeing a ghost. “Why are you troubled?” he asked them. “And why do doubts arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself! Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you can see I have.” Having said this, he showed them his hands and feet. But while they still were amazed and in disbelief because of their joy, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” So they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and he took it and ate in their presence. He told them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. He also said to them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day, and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And look, I am sending you what my Father promised. As for you, stay in the city until you are empowered from on high.”
GOD reveals His Glory and we need to be seeking it in our lives.
Seek He because WE NEED HIM, WE LOVE HIM, AND HE IS WORTHY.
