What does it mean to have faith

Hebrews 11:6 (KJV 1900)
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

1. What does it mean to have faith

it is your opinion of God

It is to have confidence

To believe he can be totally trusted,

you can relax,

lay down and sleep,

not worry,

not keep your eyes open

think about Abraham leaving everything, his family, his town all based on what God had said

Faith is believing that He is faithful to do what He says

It is believing He is committed to keeping His word

Believe that He does what He says and can do what He says

Think about Noah being the joke of all building an ark when it had never rained

Faith has to do with what you think of His character

Are you persuaded of who He is and How He is

Think about David going up against Goliath, a small guy against a giant double his size only in the name of his God

Faith is believing that He exists, He is

He is, present tense, never changes. His character

Faith is believing that He rewards us, those that seek Him

think about Joseph being sold into slavery and still watching for and expecting what God had promised

those that come and seek Him

Faith causes us to act with confidence in His character and His promises

2. Faith is accepting God and what He says

21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

walls of Jericho
Romans 4:19 (KJV 1900)
19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb:

Expecting what God is going to do

seeing it before it happens
Psalm 27:13 (KJV 1900)
13 I had fainted, unless I had believed To see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Thanking God before you see the answer
Philippians 4:6 (KJV 1900)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
resting in the Word of God
Philippians 4:6–7 (KJV 1900)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
