4. Events: Why we do them and How to Make them a Success

The purpose of our welcome events are to give us multiple opportunities to welcome new people into our community.

We want to make the event as fun as possible, but we don’t want to miss the goal.

Tips for us teaming up to make the most successful events we can

Come to as many events as you can, even if your not into whatever the event is.

Remember the real goal!

Take personal responsibility to invite your crew. We can’t rely on flyers.

The events must be easily accessible, preferably on campus.

Try to meet every person you don’t know.

Make lots of introductions: “Hey _____, let me introduce you to ______.”

Set up GA’s. A new person should never leave an event without having at least a couple people try to set up a GA.

Tips for leading a great event

Plan

Think ahead about what is needed.

Shop ahead of time.

Kevin can give you a budget to buy supplies.

Organize

Determine what help you will need.

Recruit volunteers and delegate responsibilities.

Make sure lots of people are invited.

Text your crew.

Remind other Challenge leaders to personally text the crew in advance.

Make a IG post and give it to Kevin to add to the Challenge Account.

Lead the event.

Show up early with the team.

Set up.

Tasteful background music can help.

Welcome people as they come.

Evaluate as you go.

Do you need to ask for help with something?

Does anything need to change?

Is something off?
