INTRODUCTION:
TRANSITION:

I. WHEN RAISED UP

Esther 3:1 NKJV
1 After these things King Ahasuerus promoted Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him and set his seat above all the princes who were with him.

HE WAS EXCITED

DON’T ALLOW POSITIONS TO GO TO YOUR HEAD
Pride in status, position, achievements
Pharaoh
Exodus 5:2 “2 And Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, nor will I let Israel go.””
Naaman
2 Kings 5:11 “11 But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’”
Hezekiah:
2 Kings 20:13 “13 And Hezekiah was attentive to them, and showed them all the house of his treasures—the silver and gold, the spices and precious ointment, and all his armory—all that was found among his treasures. There was nothing in his house or in all his dominion that Hezekiah did not show them.”
Romans 12:3 NKJV
3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

RESPOND WITH HUMILITY

II. WHEN RECOGNIZED

Esther 3:2 NKJV
2 And all the king’s servants who were within the king’s gate bowed and paid homage to Haman, for so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai would not bow or pay homage.

HE WAS ELATED

RESPOND WITH HUMILITY

Proverbs 11:2 (NKJV)
When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble [is] wisdom.

III. WHEN REJECTED

Esther 3:2–5 NKJV
2 And all the king’s servants who were within the king’s gate bowed and paid homage to Haman, for so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai would not bow or pay homage. 3 Then the king’s servants who were within the king’s gate said to Mordecai, “Why do you transgress the king’s command?” 4 Now it happened, when they spoke to him daily and he would not listen to them, that they told it to Haman, to see whether Mordecai’s words would stand; for Mordecai had told them that he was a Jew. 5 When Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow or pay him homage, Haman was filled with wrath.

HE WAS ENRAGED

HAMAN ALLOWED HIS ANGER TO CONSUME HIM.
HE WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE ACTIONS OF THE KING
HE WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE ACTIONS OF THE KING’S SERVANTS
HE ALLOWED ONE PERSON TO CHANGE HIS COURSE
HE ALLOWED THIS SITUATION TO ALTER HIS ACTIONS
HE COULD HAVE FOLLOWED
Proverbs 20:3 NKJV
3 It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel.
3 [It is] an honour for a man to cease from strife
But HAMAN HAD BECOME PRIDEFUL
WHY? YOU MAY BE ASKING BECAUSE
Proverbs 13:10 NKJV
10 By pride comes nothing but strife, But with the well-advised is wisdom.
Pride is a person who is arrogant or a person who has delusions of greatness on account of one’s achievements, status, or possessions.
HE COULD HAVE LISTENED TO WISDOM WHICH STATES Proverbs 19:11
Proverbs 19:11 NKJV
11 The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, And his glory is to overlook a transgression.
WHAT CHOICE HAVE YOU MADE?
ARE YOU CHOOSING GOD’S WILL?
ARE YOU SAYING LIKE CHRIST? NOT MY WILL BUT YOURS BE DONE!
ARE YOU SAYING FATHER FORGIVE THEM OR SOMETHING ELSE.
THAT LAST THING THAT MADE YOU MAD OR ANGER!
WHY DID YOU NOT OVERLOOK THE TRANSGRESSION?
THAT PERSON THAT HAD YOU HOT UNDER THE COLLAR OR THAT MADE TEARS COME TO YOUR EYES BECAUSE YOU WERE SO FILLED WITH EMOTIONS
WHY DID YOU NOT OVERLOOK THEIR TRANSGRESSION?
CHRISTIANS ARE CALLED TO LIVE DIFFERENTLY
LOOK AT Romans 12:18-21
Romans 12:18–21 NKJV
18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
PEACEABLY WITH ALL MEN (SINNER AND SAINT)
THEREFORE WE ARE COMMANDED NOT TO AVENGE OURSELVES BUT TO GIVE PLACE UNTO WRATH
MEANING LET GOD TAKE CARE OF THE WRATH PART BECAUSE VENGEANCE BELONGS TO THE LORD. GOD FIGHTS OUR BATTLES.
CHRISTIAN ARE CALLED TO OPERATE DIFFERENTLY
LOOK AT Colossians 3:8
Colossians 3:8 NKJV
8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

HE SOUGHT TO GET EVEN

Esther 3:6 NKJV
6 But he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone, for they had told him of the people of Mordecai. Instead, Haman sought to destroy all the Jews who were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus—the people of Mordecai.
HE OPTED FOR MORE THAN BENDING THE KNEE BUT FOR BREAKING THE NECK OF MORDECAI
INSTEAD OF
SEEKING EXALTATION HE
SOUGHT ELIMINATION
HE DIDN’T JUST WANT TO
KILL ONE JEW
HE WANT ALL THE JEWS

HE SHOULD HAVE RESPONDED WITH HUMILITY

BECAUSE THE LORD WILL
Proverbs 15:25 NKJV
25 The Lord will destroy the house of the proud, But He will establish the boundary of the widow.
BECAUSE PRIDE
Proverbs 16:18 NKJV
18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.
DON’T BE PRIDEFUL IN YOUR
strength
wisdom
ambition
OR HAVE
Spiritual pride LIKE THE PHARISEES
AS CHRISTIANS WE ARE CALLED TO
Titus 3:2 NKJV
2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.
WE ARE CALLED TO DO
Philippians 2:3–4 NKJV
3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
BECAUSE GOD RESIST THE PROUD BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE
PETER PROCLAIMED FOR US TO
1 Peter 5:6 NKJV
6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,
IN CHAPTER 6 THE KING COULD NOT SLEEP
HE READ ABOUT MORDECAI’S LOYALTY
HE ASKED WHAT HAD BEEN DONE FOR HIM
NOTHING
HE CALLED IN HAMAN TO ASK
Esther 6:6–9 NKJV
6 So Haman came in, and the king asked him, “What shall be done for the man whom the king delights to honor?” Now Haman thought in his heart, “Whom would the king delight to honor more than me?” 7 And Haman answered the king, “For the man whom the king delights to honor, 8 let a royal robe be brought which the king has worn, and a horse on which the king has ridden, which has a royal crest placed on its head. 9 Then let this robe and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that he may array the man whom the king delights to honor. Then parade him on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him: ‘Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!’ ”
Esther 6:10–14 NKJV
10 Then the king said to Haman, “Hurry, take the robe and the horse, as you have suggested, and do so for Mordecai the Jew who sits within the king’s gate! Leave nothing undone of all that you have spoken.” 11 So Haman took the robe and the horse, arrayed Mordecai and led him on horseback through the city square, and proclaimed before him, “Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!” 12 Afterward Mordecai went back to the king’s gate. But Haman hurried to his house, mourning and with his head covered. 13 When Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him, his wise men and his wife Zeresh said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of Jewish descent, you will not prevail against him but will surely fall before him.” 14 While they were still talking with him, the king’s eunuchs came, and hastened to bring Haman to the banquet which Esther had prepared.
Proverbs 29:23 NKJV
23 A man’s pride will bring him low, But the humble in spirit will retain honor.
Proverbs 22:4 NKJV
4 By humility and the fear of the Lord Are riches and honor and life.
Philippians 2:5 NKJV
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
A MIND THAT
Philippians 2:8 NKJV
8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
He came as a

HE CAME TO SEEK AND TO SAVE THOSE WHO WERE LOST
I SO GLAD HE FOUND ME

My RECORD WAS Removed
AND NOW I AM
Not too Big to Bow
Not too High to Humble
Not too Grand to Give
Not too SUPERIOR to Serve
LET CHRIST
