This morning. I want to talk to you about freedom from Stress and Anxiety. Any of you ever face any stress Amy ever been excuse about anything. I never worry about anyting. I know that some of us believe on where Reese Street and stress Avenue. If that's where you live this morning you are in good company because God's word will teach us this morning how we can live a stress free life regardless of what we might face in life. So our text this morning is in the Book of Matthew and we going to be in a verse 25 to 34 as we continue our Series in the Book of Matthew Matthew 6 25 to 34. It has been said that we leave between two thieves the regrets of the past and then the preoccupations of Tomorrow of the future. So we always constantly just beating our self Things that regrets about things that could have been that should have been in that never happened. And then we do also focus on the preoccupation of the future. Oh I have business. I have Beth I have death in that and dad coming up and then we never really live for today. So I will see you in our texts this morning. You will see that God will tell us a focus on today a purposeful today is better than living in the past on living worried about the future. That doesn't mean that we do not plan as you say I choose my words carefully. I say purposeful today where we leave very intentionally for today so that we don't have to worry about the guilt of the past the regrets of the past neither led the preoccupation. The future all the things that could come with that never really comes but God here in his word will give us good recipe for doing for dealing better with our stress. Let's read the text. It says therefore I tell you do not be anxious about your life what you will eat or what you will Shrek nor about your body. What you will put on is not life more than food and the body more than clothing look at the birds of the air. They neither sow nor reap not gather into Barns and yet your heavenly father. Feeds them. Are you not of more value than they and which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his spin of life? And why are you anxious about clothing consider the lilies of the field how they grow they neither tornos pain yet. I tell you even Solomon the richest man who ever live in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these but if God, so clothe the grass of the field which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven. Will he not much more clothe you OU of safe with me little faith wear for the Gentiles seek after all this thing's and your heavenly father knows that you need them all But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow for tomorrow will be anxious for itself sufficient for each day, its own trouble sufficient for each day its own trouble. I haven't met anybody would say that they love driving when it's very foggy outside. It is annoying. You have to slow down and impact everything and it's the same thing for us just a little problem that we Face my fog everything else into our life word affects everything into our life. So we live in a world now that is a pregnant. It's replete with all kinds of problems. Some of us worried about job security. He's some of us worried about our financial situations some of us worried about classes that are about to start.
Am I going to make it you know, am I going to ever graduate as a student? Am I going to beat this and then you keep thinking and thinking and thinking thinking and thinking and thinking and on Tilly just paralyze you. Is he worried means that you are being pulled apart? So that means you being Pull-A-Part on both sides. So you already know what's going to happen. I don't want to rush that's what I want problems. Does we cannot breathe because we are being seized by the throat and we are being pulled apart. And Jesus says don't worry here is the word anxiousness anxiety anxiety goes deeper than were some people still use it in Turkey interchangeably, but it really worries is worried about a specific thing. But anxiety is worried on steroids steroids. Were you perpetually just worried about this you worried about that you worried about that you worried about that and an indie. Are you ask yourself? What am I worried about? I have no clue what I'm worried about, but I'm worried. It looks like one things are going too good in our life. And then now we start getting worried because things are going to do now what's going to happen next? Is that when we don't have something to worry about now, we begin to worry about something. We began to worry about what should I be worried about me, but that's not the way that God calls us to live. This ain't no no. No, I want you to live or worried free life. I want you to live a stress free life. Did Jesus says in this world? You will have problems but Jesus says I have overcome the world. Jesus says, I will never leave you as orphans. Jesus says I will take care of you this morning. I want to share four steps to living a stress free life for steps to living stress free and there is are straight from the tax. The first one is have faith in God. A lot of our worries come from not having faith in God. Do you know that you cannot have faith and be fearful that the same time faith and fear do not coexist. That's why you will see you constantly in the Bible that says fear not fear not this is one of the most common amendments in the Bible fear not fear not because God says a when we do not fear when we have faith. Then we can not be living in fear and look at the tax year. It starts with the word therefore in verse 25 and their love you been here with us for a while. You already know whenever you see the word therefore you need to ask what question what is it there for? Okay, if you see therefore, there's a reason that means that it's continuing a Tartan in the previews verse it talks about or not. You need to choose between God and money in verse 24. So God is saying that you cannot serve God and money and a lot of our worries are about financials. It's about that's losing our job. It's about being able to provide for our needs. It's about getting a good degree so I can get a good job and hear Jesus says your focus should be on me not on the material stuff of life. And it says therefore I tell you do not be anxious about your life what you will eat or what you will drink know about your body. What you will put on is not life more than food and the body more than clothing got to stop worrying about food and fashion. Stop worried about food, but I'm going to eat. You know what I'm going to wear you. No, do I look good with this. Do I look good with that? Play some people who spend hours in front of a mirror while some others just putting some stuff and get out and then you know people's admit what?
Bugatti said don't worry about food and fashion. Let not that be your focus vs. Don't be anxious about your life what you will eat through or what you will drag him know about your body your fashion. You know what I'm going to put it on and then for most of us don't stress. We just brought it on ourselves because most of us here would really is not a problem close is not a problem. But the we turn them into worry man, I know what I'm going to eat today. Is it going to be a Chick-fil-A is going to be Domino's is going to be yesterday. Am I going to cook today or what? Should I cook or I have right? Oh, I have both but what you two should I get some steaks and I get some chicken.
Do you know there are some people in the world they just waiting for a miracle for their food?
Didn't they just waiting for somebody to actually just provide a meal for them? They they they actually praying God. I don't know what I'm going to eat today open the door for me let something happen. It would you want to compare this stress to our stress?
What do we have a problem with plenty and then plenty is causing stress for us while we get stress. I'm going to work that I don't know what to wear. I don't know a flipper flipper flipper on the closet. Get the boxes while you back all those other Pleasures the winter clothes, right and then you hit your pack of summer clothes and I can't find a toilet.
Bonita some people about it. They just have like, you know, just just just one pair of clothes or two. They just have like one change of clothes and in their worries about I've been fixing this close. I've been stitching it for so much and I'm just worried that you know, this is really going out. I need something else.
Busy, we need to be careful about the things that we worry about some of the stress. We just brought upon ourselves, but he said that's why we need to be grateful and MB morning as we wake of God. Thank you. You always provide for our needs Beyond when I actually need when I open the fridge this all kinds of food. I have money in my pocket. Do you know as soon as I can go to the cafeteria, you know, it's already paid for your parents paid or wherever.
We are so blessed today sea food and clothing should not be a worry for us. But return it into worry, we turn it into a problem now because we have too much of it. But Jesus said let not food or fashion be your focus. But let me be your focus have faith in me says look at the birds of the air. They neither sow nor reap nor gather into Barns and yet your heavenly father does what feeds them. You know Genesis 1:27. It says we were made in God's image.
So he didn't say that birds were made in God's image birds are God's creation, but here got sensation were made in my image if I take care of the bird. Do you think I'm going to take care of you? The God says a have faith in me. That's not a problem that you have that I cannot solve and God says are you not of more value than they God says if I take care of the bird guess what I'm going to take care of you or just stay with me if I can take care of the Guard I'm going to take care of you. God will take care of you and look at verse 27 and which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his been of life. I love you when you been worried that did that change anything.

I think we're leaving the South you know. Probably everybody has a rocking chair at the house or you seen one like your grandmother when you went to your grandmother's house is a rocking chair. He would like to sit on the rocking chair and just moving back and forth burn when you want to watching chair. Do you go anywhere? What is motion it feels like you doing something, right? You going back and forth? I put where he's doing it gives you the appearance of motion that you doing something but you lie. You're not doing anything at all. It does not change one bit the problem that you face and where is this and which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to your spin of like you hurting yourself?
Because remember our time here on Earth or measured. There is an end to it. When are you wasting the precious time that you have instead of doing God's will for your life following God's plan for your life doing things that are important doing things that matter but you wasting that time and getting worried about what you do not need to waste your time in North 28th. It is a faith problem. Have faith in me and in verse 31 says therefore do not be anxious saying what shall we eat? What shall we wear? What show what shall we drink or what shall we were? So God is saying stop.
Do you get their poor remember? Why is it there for you? Go back. It says I take care of the birds that take care of the flowers. I think care of everything. God is saying good boy. Do not be anxious saying what shall we eat? What shall we drink? What's your wee where it says God is saying a stop worrying about food and your fashion style carry on all your clothes. God says I will take care of you. See worry is incompatible with think we're worried is incompatible with faith. You cannot have faith and be worried all the time. God worry is advertising that you do not trust God again. He remember just in our teaching you I'm using both the word worry and anxiety and stress and using all of them. Just one in the same CD. You see it just goes uniform at arts and the toilet goes into your heart. And then from your heart now, it's affecting you physically. See that's why sometimes people can get out of bed.
See it started with just a thought then it went to your heart. You started believing it, even though sometimes you even know that it's not true. And then that paralyzes you now you don't want to get out of bed. And sometimes you cannot even get out of bed you go to the doctor. They ran all kinds of tests. There is nothing wrong with you and you know that most of problems people go to the doctor for they just what they call psychosomatic disorder is like you think you have a problem, but you really don't have a problem.
But what you really need is God a spiritual issue and God is saying that you need me have faith in me and I will handle all your stress. See Matthew 6:27 again, which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life. Nana Look 12:30 to see your nana. God says I will never permit the righteous to be moved. So God is saying whatever you face in your life. Hey. Just like I am unshakable if you have unshakable faith in me. God says I will never permit you to be moved 1st Peter 5:7 cast all your anxieties on him because he cares for you. Some of us think that we got it. We are so strong. I can take care of this one Lord. Don't worry about it. I got this one. But what does it say? There's just cost some of your anxieties. Cast all your anxieties on him. So if it worries you what should you do bring it to the Lord if it stress you out when you do bring it to the Lord take every thought to God In Prayer cast all your anxieties on him. Why? pictures for you God cares for you. He does one of my favorite passage Philippians 4 verse 4 29. Are you ready rejoice in the Lord when always again, I will say rejoice the guy say rejoice when things are going well rejoice when your bank account is full We join us when you get your dream house rejoice when you get your dream car. He says rejoice when always that means when the going gets tough when I feel the class, that means when I get laid off from my job, that doesn't mean that you know, you should not be focused on steady. Miss. You. Don't feel that. Okay that's on you. Is that okay? I got them ordered. We have to do our part doesn't mean that you go get fired from a job now.
Every time you haven't turned your project on time, you haven't been doing your job. You should be fired and God will approve. Day and night you have to do your part, but got to say when you do your part and then the problems of this life comes in and you know, and you get fired from your job whether justly or unjustly, whether you have relational issues, you know things you didn't do anything of your own you had nothing to do with it. And then you have broken relationships. God says, hey I got you and you know God is so reckless even when it's your fault God still. Got you. God says you just have to turn to me just turned to me and God says I will make it. All right, it says cast all your burdens all your anxieties on him because he cares for you. It says rejoice in the lord always again. I will say rejoice let your reasonableness be known to everyone the Lord is at hand do not be anxious and it said it was me do not be anxious about what some things. Is it that a crazy guy says don't be anxious about anything remember before the verse where it says rejoice in the Lord? Always but what does God say to do with our problems with in everything by what we pray about everything supplication take you deeper with Thanksgiving. You see that grateful attitude Thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Some of us are too spiritual to ask God for anyting. This is a misunderstanding if it worries you you need to ask. They don't think that I got this or bright know I should have gotten this. Okay, but you'll get it. So God says bring it to him in prayer and die. What does God promise. Peace? Which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ. Jesus has even the most dire circumstances and situations people will look and see what's wrong with you because I still have peace. How come you still walking level-headed with what I know that you're going through right now and it's like some people make it look on your life. You must be crazy don't think is wrong with him. But that is a compliment because God will take care of you because God says he will give you the kind of Peace which surpasses all understanding and nobody understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ. Jesus has finally brothers that the first memorize whatever is true a lot of things you worry about are not true and they will never come to pass. Whatever is true, whatever is an orrible the what is true is this word? Whatever is the normal whatever is just whatever is pure whatever is lovely. Whatever is commendable if there is any Excellence if there is anything worthy of Praise, what does he say? So if you want to live a stress free life have faith in God and secondly remember God is your heavenly father. I know some of us might have had a difficult time growing up. We didn't really have the real father that we long for that. We deserve our fathers may not have been the right representation of God, but God says 8:00 remember ultimately I am your heavenly father even though your Earthly father may not have been what he should be. But God says I am your heavenly father and fathers take care of their kids father. Take care of their children's needs look at verse 25. What does it say there? It says look at the birds of the air. Your heavenly father God is your father look at their it says and yet your heavenly father feeds them do said that their Heavenly Father feeds them. The doctors. I'm your father there just my creatures and I take care of them. And as a father you think I'm not going to take care of you. In chapter 7 when we get there probably in a couple of weeks. We will see that when Jesus is talking about, you know, if Earthly fathers know how to give good gifts to their children when they needed it says how much more will your heavenly father give you good things? See God as your heavenly father wants to take care of you then look at verse 32 of the same chapter again the section we studying. This is for the gym tell seek after this rings. I was hearing a story about a guy who is a famous like rapper. He went to a city and then he left his watch. You know, he spent a lot of money since to have the watch that he's white collection from one ship to him because he he didn't feel like, you know a person without his watch. See, that's the thing when we focus so much on the things that guy says don't focus on now we find our identity in them. So that guy's identity was found in his wife and got this for the gentle sex after all this feeling. So God says a when we keep worrying. we are acting just like on Believers and the problem is because we are focusing on the wrong thing and your heavenly father knows that you what you need them some I know your name God knows that you all that you need and God is. Interested in taking care of all your means remember what all means right? All means all and that's all all means. Got it. Look at this verse remain Romans 8:32. It says he would not spare his own son. God the net fairies Odin son. Jesus Christ why but he gave him up for us. All that means you and me. So God did not spare Jesus he's done for you and for me. And then look at what it says. How will he not also? with him graciously give us all things Bible is

The promises that God makes to us is just like wow, you can love that much.

The Reckless Love
I think that song is right. That's called Reckless. Love God so loved you. There's not a thing that God is Not reeling to do for you. I just want you just have faith in me. God says I am your heavenly father regardless of your prior experience with Earthly father has gotten that got you. I will take care of you. You want to live a stress free life have faith in God. You went to live a stress free life. Remember that God is your heavenly father and then thirdly make God your first Priority made guide your first priority for a lot of us. God is an afterthought. Okay, but God says I want you to put me where? First not only have faith. I'm your father but God says I want you to put me first. Matthew 6:33 seek first The kingdom of God and his righteousness. That means do what is right work with him. Obey him and all this thing's food shelter clothing, whatever you need. Will be added to you. God will give you all that. You need to see the source of our stress often is just a misplaced priorities.
Because we do not prioritize the things that matter most. You know things which matter most should never be put at the mercy of things which matter least. Things which matter most should never be food at the mercy of things which matter least. And the problem that most of us face is that we focus on the wrong priorities our priorities or misplace and as a result, what does it do when we think he's going to enhance our life but instead what does it do it stresses our life, so that's why we need to trust in the good book. We need to trust in God's word God's is seeking first. What did you do? Seek him first. And I got this once you do that.
All these things will be added to you guys as you walk on obedient life. You put me first. Everything in your life will be in order. That's a good deal, right?
This was our verse that's our Fame this year as a church. It's Matthew 6:33. God rewards obedience. God rewards obedience. Does that means going to be free from problems? Remember we covered this already? In this world, you will have trouble Joe says as Sparks goes up work the same way we going to get problem. It's going to like if it looks cloudy outside and it looks like it's going to rain guess what it's going to rain see God never promised. A problem free life, but God says I will be with you. Always whatever problem that you face. God says, I will be with you at Jeremiah 17 verse 7 to 10 reading it in the New Living Translation. It says but blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence in the English Standard Version that we usually use of the King James version that says blessed. Are those who trust in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord? You got it. Blessed are those who trust in the Lord? And whose trust is the Lord God is the embodiment of it in Living Translation series have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank that we get the image. What a tree is planted along the riverbank. What do you think's going to happen? Get a florist. They're going to stay green, right we're roots that reach deep into the water search trees are not bothered by the Heat. problems stress layoffs Getting stressed. I don't get the subject still hard for me when friends bending me broken relationships since trees are not bothered by the Heat or worried by long months of drought. See some of you might be going through some problems in your life. You feel like it's a drought. But golf is even in the drought that your face. Now. Remember you are like a tree that is planted by a river bank. Your roots are in the river and it doesn't matter how long the drought last.
You will not be bothered by the problems that you faced their leaves. Stay how. Green and they what never stop producing for some of us think like when we Face our problems when we Face our moments of drought it is an excuse for not too sure if it is an excuse for us not to do the things that God has called us to do it's all part of the plan. Matter how the drought he's a hard life gets for you how tough it is. Does you still got to produce food because you're going through a difficult times that doesn't give you an excuse to be mean to people because you're going through a difficult time and it's been gone for a long time is stretching you out that doesn't give you an excuse not to be kind to people not to do what is right not to love people not to pray for your enemies not to be kind to your enemy.
God says it doesn't matter what you face. You don't get a pass. You've got this I got you search trees are not bothered by the Heat or worries by long months of drow their leaves Stay Green and they never stopped producing fruits that God says in your hard time when you feel no stress you need to go ahead and serve most the human heart is the most deceitful above all things and desperately wicked who really knows how bad it is. You see when you're going for your stress your problems start going to your heart. And now your heart is telling you or you don't have to be kind of that person or you don't have to do this. You don't have to take that from them that from them so you can go ahead just be you. The heart is deceitful and wicked Above All Things. The Bible says woo can understand it to God is saying in your moment of stress. Do not follow your heart follow God. Cuz your heart will lie to you. What you need is a clear guide you need the word. Remember, whatever is shoe in Philippians 4 you think on those things don't go with your heart. It's a line the cultural people have follow your heart child. No, no, no, no, no, no. No. No, your heart is wicked. You don't even understand your heart some things you do. You just shocked that you did it.
Don't trust your heart. God says you trust me invoice tenses, but I the Lord search all hearts and examine.
Secrets you can't fool God.
You may fool some people, but you cannot fool God. I give people their do Rewards Card Rewards obedience. Remember? I give all people there do rewards according to what their actions deserve to be saved by grace. We are saved by grace, but we are judged by works. by Grace you have been saved and if he's into Aiden sin by Grace you have been saved nuts out of work so that you know that you should not boast, but you were created you were his workmanship created for good Pleasures. So yes, God for good works. Yes, you are saved by grace. But you're going to be judged by works. Your Works needs to prove that you are saved. I'm going to be kind I'm going to take care of those who are in need I'm going to do whatever I'm not doing those things to be safe. But because I am safe. May God the first part. I wanted to make sure you were paying attention. May God your first priority and then lastly your future is secure in him to another to live a stress free life. We need to have faith in God make him our first priority. Remember, he's our father and then lastly remember that our future is SECU in him a lot of us the source of our stress or about future things things that we think are going to happen that may never happen. Wesley was an evangelist who started mostly to Methodist movement one day. He's a house was burning and somebody came and told him at your house is on fire.
You said no, it's not. So yeah, I'm telling you. Your house is on fire. Is it? No, it's not it's not my house. It's the Lord house one less thing to worry about.
Isn't that a good way to live because God calls us to be managers. We don't do anything God owns everything. She Wesley on the students is now but one less thing to worry about.
But for most of us will be thinking of where am I going to sleep tonight? What's going to happen?

Are you going to sleep somewhere to have faith in God? I love the way that The Message Bible paraphrased version put that verse 34. It says give your entire attention to what God is doing when right now. Okay, stop worrying about the past and the future right now and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with what whatever hard things come up when the time comes this is good. Let's say it. So it's thanks. Thanks in this day together.
