Daniel 10-12; The Full Story

Introduction

According to Pampers, children develop object permanence between 7 and 8 months of age. Until this point, babies do not understand the existence of objects they cannot see. Brothers and sisters, let us not be newborns of the faith. We know that there are spiritual forces and warfare all around us. We are reminded when of our spiritual warfare when we get that phone call from the doctor, when we are passed up for that promotion, or those thoughts just won’t go away. But because we are looking at the physical manifestations of the spiritual powers, we may often forget about the unseen realm. Our text this morning is open our spiritual eyes to the unseen realm around us.

The Unseen Story(10:1-3, 12-13, and 20-11:1)

Daniel’s private message causes him to fast and pray for 3 weeks.
Daniel can be really annoying can’t he? We all know we are supposed to pray but we don’t. Daniel is not like that. We don’t ever run into Danial when he is not praying. Whether he is the third in command of the entire nation or he is going to his certain death.
Fasting can be a limiting of food, drink, or pleasures. It doesn’t have to mean only water for 40 days and 40 nights.
Daniel was not aware of the spiritual warfare until God sent his messenger.
Daniel’s prayers were being answered but he did not his answer was still on the way. Brothers and sisters, let us not loose heart when our prayers are not answered immediately.
The Spiritual and Unseen Realm precedes the seen realm! The fighting of the angles is what set the stage for the coming empire/king.
Ephesians 2:1–2 ESV
1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—

The Seen Story (11:2-6, 27-32)

God shows Daniel what will happen on earth as a result of the spiritual warfare.
God shows Daniel that He is sovereign over human history, even when we don’t see God.

The End of the Story (12:1-3, 8-13)

After the rise and fall of demonic governments, God will bring salvation to his people.
No matter what this world crushes us with, we can take our stand and find rest in God’s hand.

Conclusion

John W. William is considered the last Civil War soldier killed during the war. William death was due to his participation in the Battle of Palmito Ranch. This battle took place on May 12th and 13th in 1865. This was over a month after Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865. Both sides knew the war was already over. However, Union Col. Theodore H. Barrett moved his troops upon the Confederate camp in the Palmito and White ranches, hoping to destroy their sizable camp.
Satan already knows the war is over. Yet that doesn’t mean his isn’t still planning any attacks. We still fight many battles in this life. Will you be prepared? How will you fight against these unseen forces?
