What is the value of the written word of God?

The Value of Scripture is that it is God’s word. It is the spoken, written, prophesied, and lived out Word of God that shows humanity who He is. John Frame says, “ God’s word, according to Scripture, is His speech, by which he expresses and therefore reveals himself.

Can you define the purpose of the Bible?

nobody would know the truth about God, or be able to relate to him in a personal way, had not God first acted to make himself known.

Do you think you would pay more attention if God spoke to you from heaven or through the voice of a living prophet than if He spoke to you from the written words of Scripture?

Why should we start with the Doctrine of Scripture over the Doctrine of God?

We cannot know God without God first revealing Himself to us. If we were to try to define God without scripture we would sinfully trip up. “We are weak finite creatures, who cannot simply rely on our own reason and careful thought to lead us to saving truth about the God universe.”

What is the difference between General Revelation and Special Revelation?

General Revelation - This is the God shaped hole in each and everyone of us. According to Romans 1:19–20 “because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,” We are given the knowledge of God as creator and the truth of God’s Power. These truths of Innate knowledge leave mankind without excuse in belief in GOD. However it does not tell us who this God is and why we should follow Him.

Special Revelation is God’s words which show us God’s attributes, His actions, and the truths about Jesus.

Why does it matter that God Speaks?

God wants to be known. He wants to have us know Him and for Him to know us. Relationship.

God wants to relate to His people through His Word. He gives His rules/Law, His message of Love, His message of warning, His message of Wrath, etc. So that those who are willing to listen are able to clearly understand what God has to say.

If God is speaking then we must listen. If He is the God of the Universe that He says He is then we should want to listen.

What Scripture says, God says; for, in a manner comparable only to the deeper mystery of the Incarnation, the Bible is both fully human and fully divine. So all its manifold contents—histories, prophecies, poems, songs, wisdom writings, sermons, statistics, letters, and whatever else—should be received as from God, and all that Bible writers teach should be revered as God’s authoritative instruction. Christians should be grateful to God for the gift of his written Word, and conscientious in basing their faith and life entirely and exclusively upon it. What is Inspiration?

2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,”

The Authors of the Bible Wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. They were inspired not dictated to.

What does it mean that the Bible is Inerrant?

The Bible in it’s original manuscripts was without error.

What is the authority of Scripture?

God Rules His people by His word. The church is built through the authority of God’s word.

The Bible is a book that is meant to rule us. It is a book full of authority and power.

What is the Clarity of Scripture?

While there will always be hard to understand parts of the Bible there are huge truths that are evident and understandable in the Bible.

The Perspicuity of Scripture - the quality of being clear and easy to understand. God is not trying to be vague or purposefully confusing.

God desires to be known

The best way to know God is to read it from the Bible.

What is the infallibility of scripture?

Everything that the Bible says is truth.

The Bible does not mislead or deceive.

The Bible is Trustworthy.

What is the power of Scripture?

The intrinsic power that God’s Word posses.

He spoke the universe into existence.

Jesus spoke to the storm

God’s word convicts of us sin and therefore creates in us a need for salvation

God’s word teaches, reproves, and trains us for His good work.

Isaiah 66:1–2 “Thus says the Lord: “Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest?
