Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,
Before we delve into today’s message, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the warm welcome that has embraced us as we step into this beautiful church and join this incredible congregation. Your kindness and love have been a blessing, and it is a true joy to worship our Lord and Savior with fellow believers who share our faith and passion.
Today, I want to talk about something that weighs heavily on many of our hearts: transitions. If I’m honest with you, transitions make me uneasy. Change, especially when its form and outcome are unknown, can stir up a whirlwind of anxiety within us. We wonder, "Is this where God wants me? What will the future hold? Will I find success or stumble along the way?"
But let us remember that we are not alone in these feelings. Transitions are a universal experience. Whether in our personal lives, professional spheres, or even within our church community, we are all either facing a change, navigating through one, or settling into a new phase. Change is an inescapable part of life—whether we welcome it or not, it arrives nonetheless.
So, how do we navigate these transitions? How do we find our way through the uncertainty and the upheaval? How do we transition from doubt to faith so that we too can get to a point where regardless of what we are going through… good bad or indifferent that we will trust God!
Habakkuk 3:1–2 “O Lord, I have heard the report of you, and your work, O Lord, do I fear. In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.”
The prophet Habakkuk had similar questions. In his time, the world was shifting dramatically, much like our own. Society was in flux, and the righteous often felt overshadowed by those who seemed to prosper despite their wrongdoing. Habakkuk found himself grappling with questions about justice and divine purpose.
Habakkuk’s world was marked by chaos and injustice. Judah was engulfed in moral corruption, violence, and societal decay. The righteous were oppressed, and the people had turned away from God’s laws. It was a time of great turbulence, and the prophet’s cry to God was one of anguish and confusion: “How long, O Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen?”
Yet, in the midst of his turmoil, Habakkuk received a profound revelation. God reminded him that despite the seeming disorder and injustice, He was still in control. The just shall live by faith. This message was not just for Habakkuk, but for all who find themselves in the midst of transitions and uncertainties.
As we face our own changes, let us hold fast to the assurance that God is sovereign over every season of our lives. Like Habakkuk, we may not always understand the path before us, but we can trust in God’s wisdom and timing. Even when the world feels unstable, our faith in Him anchors us.
So, as we journey through these transitions—whether in our personal lives, our work, or our community—let us remain steadfast in faith. Let us seek God’s guidance, cling to His promises, and trust that He will lead us through. In every shift and change, God remains constant, and His plans for us are filled with hope.
May we find strength in His presence, courage in His promises, and peace in His unwavering love. Amen.
