Said that with me “Stay in the Race “
How many of us know that? "We have to go through
to get out"
So we have to Stay in the Race to get to the end,
and the devil cannot
disqualify us,
the only one that can disqualify you
is you.
The Verse that gives Rise and Authorityto the Subject
Come from verse one
According to
The Amplified Bible Translation
Paul writing sound like this
THEREFORE THEN, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimonyto the Truth],
let us strip off
and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily clings to and entangles us, and let us run
with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us,
This image does not necessarily imply that people in heaven watch us or know what is going on here on earth.
It is an illustration, not a revelation.
2 Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, who is the Leader
and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is
also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection].
He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured
the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the
right hand of the throne of God.
He is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. What He starts, He finishes;
He is now seatedat the righthand of throne God the Father, the work of Man salvation is finish.
Our Writer:
Paul, a bond servant of Jesus Christ (the Messiah) called to be an
apostle, set apart to [preach] the Gospel (the good news of Jesus
Christ) the Son of God the Father.
The apostle Paul
Theme come in: Three parts
1) To present Jesus Christ a deity, and better than all human beings and angels.
2) To prove that Judaism and the law have come to an end.
Romans 10:4
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness toevery one that believeth.
[ He is the Object to which the Law pointed.]
Matthew 5:17
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets:
I am not come to destroy,
but to fulfill.
3) To confirm Jewish Christians in the faith; and to set forth new covenant doctrines for all people.
Jews and Gentiles
Acts 2:39
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
The key word in this Text is "endure"; it is found in vv. 1 (translated "patience")
The word means "to bear up under trial, to continue when the going is tough."
These churches were going through a times of testing and were tempted to give up.
Hebrews 10:35-38
Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
So the Apostle Paul was encouraging
their trust in Christ, the writer reminded them of three encouragements that would help keep them going and growing.
If we looked back and saw how the -- Saints of the OT-- won the race of life through faith.
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worldswere framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
" Stay in the Race "
Christ has already run this race of faith and conquered for us!
He is the Author and Finisher of our faith;
He is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End.
What He starts, He finishes; He can see us through to victory.
[ We have such a High Priest, and His Priesthood is Eternal ]
He is set down at the right hand of the throne of God in the heavens,
Him being seated, denote His completed work on the cross,
He is the lamb of God
5. The Eternal High Priest, offering his crucified body unto God, on behalf of all the generations of mankind past, and present.
