Immediately after addressing Peter about his denial

getting down to business- beginning the last discussion and teaching he will have with his closest friends

a lot like what Phil said the other night

“In my Father’s house there are many rooms”, “going to prepare a place for you”

language about heaven and the second coming in John, not the same parables of the other gospels or kingdom of heaven will be like this

John likes a good metaphor

If you want to reach that destination where there is a place for you, you must go through Jesus

his example, his words, his resurrection and nothing else- defeating a lot of agnostic arguments

the thought John began with once again, the theme repeated throughout

Jesus and the the Father are one

what does someone that believes in him look like?

Whatever you ask? not literally anything- to ask in his name is significant

If You Love Me

What do people who love him look like?

a lot like the people who also believe in him

What do we love and believe in?

The Helper with a capital H- the Holy Spirit that will come with the resurrection and Pentacost

21 the confirmation that most all of this applies to us also

Peace not like the world gives- what do you think when you think of peace

Application

Do you believe in Jesus?

Do you Love Jesus?

Do you do the work and keep his commandments?

otherwise it doesn’t matter how you answered those other questions

Dow you Love Jesus? people who will claim a lot of things about what our purpose in life ought to be

a lot of claims about who ought to receive salvation

here is the only way and what that will look like
