Bible Study
vs. 1 - a request for God to “come near”; possibly because “I am poor and needy” aka not worthy.
vs. 2-4 - the author makes his requests:
-Preserve my life
-Save your servant
-Be merciful to me
-Rejoice the soul
vs. 5 - He can make these requests because God is . . .
-good
-ready to forgive
-abundant in mercy
vs. 6 -repeat of his request for God to come near
vs. 7 - he gives a different reason, out of a trust in God. “For you will answer me”
vs. 8-10 the singleness of God’s character. “there is none like you”.
‘gods’ - unlike these Israelites and other nations who served various ‘gods’, we can make things a ‘god’.
