Matthew 6:13 - Lead Us Not Into Temptation

Matthew 6:13 ESV
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
What are some ways we become tempted?
Does God tempt us to sin?
James 1:13 ESV
13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.
No God does not force us to sin nor tempt us. However he does guide our steps, therefore by asking for God to lead us not into temptation we petition the Lord to lead us away from things that could create cause for stumbling.
Read some Scripture:
Psalm 5:8 ESV
8 Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.
Psalm 27:11 ESV
11 Teach me your way, O Lord, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies.
When we pray this pray we are not simply asking for the Lord to lead us away from temptation, but rather away from temptation and to better righteous things.
4. What are some practical ways in which we can avoid temptation?
