Revelation 2:1-7 “Motivation”

I, rather the Lord will speak tonight about our motivation..........Which would bring me to a church in Ephesus..........a church at Friendship, Brownsdale, and Dixionville.........Jesus is moving through the churches.....Revelation 1:9-20..........
I read all of that for us to understand tonight, Jesus in His rightful place.....in the midst of these churches!
Now, Revelation 2:1-7......The church at Ephesus.........Good works.....they hated the Nicolaitans
be we never so deeply immersed in sin; and then, the after effect of this proclamation of love is, that “we love him because he first loved us.”
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
2 Corinthians 5:21 “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
Galatians 3:13 “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:”
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
David’s plea to the Lord after he had sinned with Bathsheba and had Uriah killed.
Psalm 51:1–4 “Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: According unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: And my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, And done this evil in thy sight: That thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, And be clear when thou judgest.”
"Oh, God, stamp eternity on my eyeballs!" was the often uttered prayer of Duncan Matheson, a soul winner much used and honored of God. Following is the story of his spiritual awakening, which was followed by his conversion to Christ and a life of service to Him.
Dr. A. A. Bonar preached a sermon on Exodus 34:6, 7. When he came to the words, "Will by no means clear the guilty," Matheson wrote: "I felt the burning, piercing eye of God upon me. A mountain of wrath seemed to crush me down, and hell was opened beneath me. Louder than the loudest thunder came the words, 'By no means clear the guilty,' and 'cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.'
"The congregation was dismissed, the people departed, but I remained fixed to the spot. Some as they passed gave me a look of pity. At last I rose and reeled home to my lodgings, realizing with awful vividness God, heaven, hell, judgment and eternity.... I saw the mass around me hurrying unsaved to eternity. I wondered how they could laugh. It seemed to me like the condemned dancing on the scaffold. The heaven seemed as if clothed in sackcloth. Wherever I went I felt the burning eye of God upon me, and the threatenings of the Word came like peals of artillery in quick succession. I feared I should drop into hell at every step."
Thank God, his awakened soul found peace through the glorious message in John 3:16.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
When people spoke of Duncan Matheson coming through their town/village, they would say that an “earthquake had come through”....................He was an “earthquake” for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, because the Gospel of Jesus Christ was an earthquake to him.
This was our first love!!!!
What was their “first love”..............What is ours????.............. “Oh, what love was that which I had to my Saviour the first time he forgave my sins. I remember it. You remember each for yourselves, I dare say, that happy hour when the Lord appeared to us, bleeding on his cross, when he seemed to say, and did say in our hearts, “I am thy salvation; I have blotted out like a cloud thine iniquities, and like a thick cloud thy sins.” Oh, how I loved him!”
Chief sinner.......1 Timothy 1:15 “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”
Do you believe you are a chief sinner, it is not about how many or how egregious, it is have you sinned against God!!!!!
John 6:35 “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”
John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
John 10:7 “Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.”
John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” , John 10:14 “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.”
John 11:25–26 “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
John 15:5 “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
Romans 5:1–5 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
