The Place of Daniels Convictions

Daniel 1:8 “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank…”

Introduction

Last week I charged you to purpose in your heart. How did you do?
Where are your convictions coming from?

The Abode in the Place

HEART
Daniels convictions were in his heart, not from his mind
They were more than just talk, they were his walk!
Psalm 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, That I might not sin against thee.”
That is the place to put his word if it is to do you any good!
The Age in the Place
Daniel at this point in his life is believed to be no more than a teenager
Daniel lived over the span of 5 emperors. (Nebuchadnezzar, Nabonidus, Belshazzar, Darius, and Cyrus)
Many believe he was between 15 and 17 years old
This means that even as a very young man he possessed great convictions!
This means you don’t have to be old and have lived through some things in your life to realize what Godly convictions are!!!
True spirituality is not conditioned on age but on the attitude of the heart!!!
Many life changing decisions are made when you are young, what better time to have Godly convictions??
friends, who we marry, habits, work
Daniel: The Man of Loyalty 2. The Age in the Place

“Very much of our future life will depend upon our earliest days” (Spurgeon).

The Area in the Place
Daniel was in Babylon with these convictions
no doubt it was nerve racking and scary for him to take a stand
It’s not always easy living Godly in a Godless society.
But even though he was pressed and he didn’t bend, bow, or break!!
KEEP YOUR CONVICTIONS
The Babylonians may have changed his name but could not change his Character!!!
Though you may get called names.. stand up for God!! It’s worth it!!
