The work of hermeneutics…the images that John uses to describe what he saw meant something to the people he wrote to. Those images mean something to us as well.

Seven Trumpets
Trumpets were used to:
Call to worship.
Celebrate
Encourage
Warn
Announce a King

3rd Trumpet
Living Water vs. Philosophies of the World
Truth vs. Poison
4th Trumpet
Sun, moon, stars - governments of the earth
Judgement is coming to the governments that try to replace the role of God
5th Trumpet
Locusts
Represent demonic oppression
6th Trumpet
Euphrates River
Only buffer between Israel and their enemies
The buffer is gone
It’s too late (7th Trumpet)
Little Scroll
Word of God
For true believers, it’s a delight to intake
Not everyone is going to listen or enjoy its message
Measured off Temple
Identify those who belong
Worshippers
Love
Obey
Serve
Dedicated to the Lamb
A living relationship with Jesus that affects their life.
Work of the Public Witness
In order for the testimony to be valid, there must be two witnesses.
The Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1-13)
Moses represents the revelation of God’s truth
Elijah represents the immediate application of God’s truth
The Witness is transferred to the Disciples
The Witness continues through Jesus’ faithful disciples.
