Premise of lesson:

2 Timothy 2:2 (KJV 1900)
2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
Colossians 3:16 “16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
God told Israel all over the new testament to teach their children and grandchildren about Him...
The Great Commission includes the command to “teach all nations”
Chapter 51 (Before Victory)
Psalm 51 (KJV 1900)
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba.
Listen to the language David uses here...

1. An Acknowledged Need for Forgiveness

1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness:
According unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity,
And cleanse me from my sin.

2. An Acknowledgement of my Sin

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions:
And my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned,
And done this evil in thy sight:
That thou mightest be justified when thou speakest,
And be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity;
And in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts:
And in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

3. An Acknowledgement of the Solution

7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean:
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness;
That the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins,
And blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God;
And renew a right spirit within me.

4. An Acknowledgement of the Consequences

11 Cast me not away from thy presence;
And take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation;
And uphold me with thy free spirit.

5. Teaching Others Also...

13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways;
And sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation:
And my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15 O Lord, open thou my lips;
And my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it:
Thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit:
A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion:
Build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering:
Then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
After Nathan came to him for his sin with Bathsheba...
Look at the language used in chapter 51:
1 - have mercy upon me… blot out my transgressions...
2 - wash me throughly (indicating a need to be washed)
3 - Acknowledging of sin
4 - I sinned against you God...
5 - I was born into sin...
7 - Purge me… wash me...
9 - blot out all mine iniquities...
10 - renew my spirit...
11 - cast me now away from thy presence...
12 - restore me
13 - Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.”
14 - Deliver me from bloodguiltiness...
16 - I’d do anything for forgiveness...
17 - broken and contrite heart is what God is looking for...
Chapter 32 (After Victory)
Psalm 32 (KJV 1900)
A Psalm of David, Maschil.

1. Forgiveness is a good thing

1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no guile.
3 When I kept silence, my bones waxed old
Through my roaring all the day long.
4 For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me:
My moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.
5 I acknowledged my sin unto thee,
And mine iniquity have I not hid.
I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord;
And thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
6 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found:
Surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.
7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble;
Thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

2. Teach others also

8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:
I will guide thee with mine eye.
- Instruct: to furnish or provide
- Teach: to point out as if by aiming the finger
- Guide: To advise
- “the way”: course of life or mode of action

a. Don’t be stubborn

9 Be ye not as the horse,
Or as the mule, which have no understanding:
Whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle,
Lest they come near unto thee.
10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked:
But he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about.
11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous:
And shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
