Title..

Mark 5:25–34 .....TRY JESUS.....
Psalm 16:8 “I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.”

Introduction...

As we begin to walk thru our preaching series…JESUS CAN FIX IT...
i think it is important that we understand that in order for Him to be able to help us, we need to try Him first...
it is just human nature that we will try everything else and then we pray...
i am guilty…i feel a headache or something, i hit that medicine cabinet...
but there has been times where, i just pray first, and believe it or not sometimes that was all i needed to do...
now there was others time i did pray and Lord said use some common sense and go take some medicine...
but in order for Jesus to help us we need to try Him first...
Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
this is a verse that true believers should have memorized but yet also live the scripture...
This verse is part of Jesus' teaching on not worrying, but trusting in God's provision. It means to make God's kingdom and His way of doing and being right your top priority, and God will give you everything you need.
Try Jesus first...
now let’s take note that His help or His plan may not be in according to what we wanted but His will shall be done and He knows what is best for us....TALK, PREACH....
and here goes some shouting news right here...
how many of you know that He has been fixing it for you even when you had your back turned on him…TALK, PREACH....
and now that you have a relationship with Him, really sit back and watch how He takes care of you...
leads you, guides you, heals you, protects you...
all because you prayed, you praised Him, you worshipped Him, and you trusted Him...
in a nutshell you tried Jesus for yourself...
let’s look at the text...

History...

in the gospels, Jesus is described as Matthews King, Mark’s suffering servant, Luke’s great physician and John’s God’s word made flesh...
the gospel of Mark is very descriptive of Christ’s journey to the cross.
all that Christ did for mankind and then all that mankind did to Christ.
but here in the early part of his gospel, Mark shows us some of Jesus’ teaching in chapter 4 through his parables...
and at the end of chapter 4 we Jesus on the ship when the storm came up and how he calmed the seas...
at the beginning of chapter 5, Jesus lands in Gadarenes… Mark 5:1 “Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes.”
and there is no rest there for our saviour either. He casts out demons, verses 1-20
and he leaves again, Mark 5:21 “Now when Jesus had crossed over again by boat to the other side, a great multitude gathered to Him; and He was by the sea.”
still no rest…he is approached by Jairus seeking help for his daughter and then while on his way there, the woman with the issue of blood steps on the scene…(tell her story)
before we go deeper into the text, let’s notice there were several types of people here...
those you were guinely seeking Jesus
those on the fence..
those nosey ones
and sure there were some non believers in the group...
the question for us today...
which group are you in?
TALK, PREACH..
Let’s go deeper...

Points...

Mark 5:25–26“Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse.
what we see here is life without Christ.
The Bible Exposition Commentary Chapter Four: The Servant Conquers! (Mark 4:35–5:43)

The woman had a hemorrhage that was apparently incurable and was slowly destroying her. One can only imagine the pain and emotional pressure that sapped her strength day after day. When you consider her many disappointments with the doctors and the poverty it brought her, you wonder how she endured as long as she did. But there was one added burden: according to the Law, she was ceremonially unclean, which greatly restricted both her religious and her social life (Lev. 15:19ff). What a burden she carried!

life is hard but it is harder without Jesus...
man can only do so much.
and sometimes man will dissappoint you...
i believe and trust that God can use man or woman to help but i know that by themselves it is impossible...
this woman had it hard...
“By the very law of her people, she was divorced from her husband, and could not live in her home; she was ostracized from all society, and must not come into contact with her old friends; she was excommunicated from the services of the synagogue, and thus shut out from the women’s courts in the temple.”
i don’t know about you but i tried it without Jesus....then one day…TALK, PREACH.....
even in situations that seems hopeless, Hope will show up...
Mark 5:27–29 “When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.”
a person who has been brought to the point of helplessness and hopelessness can be helped. When thee is hope anywhere else, there is hope in Christ..TALK,PREACH....
the songwriter said, i almost gave up....

if, like the woman, you have either been going through an endless stream of setbacks or one persistent problem, you don’t know what the next hour holds. The next moment might bring you a miracle of astounding proportion. Pondering this keeps me from complacency when I feel like I’m in Jairus’ sandals, and from despairing when it seems like I’m standing in the woman’s shoes. Both of their stories remind me that the Lord is my Shield and my Protector. And if He allows difficulty, setback, or tragedy to come into my life, He will also be my Glory and the Lifter of my head (Psalm 3:3).

next, another lesson to look at..
you can fool man but you cant fool Christ..
Mark 5:30–31 “And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?” But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ””

Yes, the multitude “thronged and pressed Him”—they jostled against Him, but all involuntarily; they were merely carried along; but one, one only—“a certain person—TOUCHED HIM,” with the conscious, voluntary, dependent touch of faith, reaching forth its hand expressly to have contact with Him. This and this only Jesus acknowledges and seeks out.

out of all of those people there was only one true touch...
you can fool me but you can’t fool God..
and his disciples, the disciples didn’t understand the difference between casual contact with Jesus and reaching out to touch Him in faith.
“It is not every contact with Christ that saves men; it is the arousing of yourself to come near to him, the determinate, the personal, resolute, believing touch of Jesus Christ which saves.” (Spurgeon)
You can come to church week after week and “bump into” Jesus. That isn’t the same as reaching out to touch Him in faith.
TALK, PREACH.......
after she approached to let him know that it was her that touched him.
she had depended on man and was let down
just when hope was almost gone, Hope showed up
Jesus knows a genuine touch of faith, of someone trying Him
and finally
when you truly try Jesus, you will get healed...
Mark 5:34 “And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.””
Mark C. A Small Subplot (5:25–34)

She had come to him as an outcast, fearful of rebuke because of her status. Instead, she had found not only physical healing but spiritual healing as well.

Exalting Jesus in Mark We Must Approach Jesus in Faith (Mark 5:28–34)

She has experienced salvation, both physically and spiritually.

it may not always be the way you want but He can fix it...
His will shall be done...
TALK, PREACH.....

Conclusion...

when we look at the woman with the issue of blood, she let nothing stand in her way as she pushed through the crowd and came to Jesus. She could have used any number of excuses to convince herself to stay away from Him. She might have said: “I’m not important enough to ask Jesus for help!” or “Look, He’s going with Jairus, so I won’t bother Him now.” She could have argued that nothing else had helped her, so why try again? Or she might have concluded that it was not right to come to Jesus as a last resort, after visiting all those physicians. However, she laid aside all arguments and excuses and came by faith to Jesus.
church Jesus can fix it, but you have to try Him...
if you just think back over your life and i promise you will see where He has fixed something in life because you tried Him
when i was in the world, he fixed it
when my money was low, he fixed it
when i was on my way to hell he fixed it....how...
