There are several ways that we can contact God. Through a meaningful prayer, with power behind or words that mean more than a simple human conversation. A spiritual contact can mean more than anything. A way of communication available at any instance in our lives.
Some of us have had real encounters with the Living God. By that I mean, some of us have had dreams where God speaks to us or shows us something that will happen. Or maybe we’ve seen God and he’s told us something. Maybe, it’s not all just mind games.
We also can and most do communicate with God through offerings and sacrifices. Offering time, money, and ourselves to God’s Kingdom, like we are told in Romans 12:1-5. Or maybe we’re being an ambassador for God, and he speaks through us to other people. Most of us encountered God, and had a communication with him, through someone else delivering a message and praying for us.
The Big Three (Spiritual Communication with our Living God)
Worship (Psalm 95:4-6)
Praise (Psalm 95:1-3)
Prayer (Psalm 95:7-8)
Real Encounters
These not only happened when Jesus walked as a human on Earth, both before crucifixion and after, but all throughout Human history starting with Adam who God gave rule over the land to. More examples from scripture; Moses and the Burning Bush (Exodus 3:2), Shadrach, Meshach, Abed-nego, King Nebuchadnezzar and the Burning Fiery Furnace (Daniel 3:19-25), etc.
I know of a man, his nickname was ‘Fluffy.’ One Wednesday or Sunday night Service, we we’re sharing testimonies in the sanctuary. Fluffy had been sick and in the hospital and “died” there. While he was “dead” he encountered God which he said told him to tell his story. I can remember that story coming loose from him in Church. I was young, this scared me, it opened my eyes for real.
Offerings/Sacrifices
Tithing (2 Corinthians 9:6-8)
Sacrificing Ourselves (Romans 12:1-5)
Ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20)
In others words, our day to day lives might should look like this. (Giving, Grieving and Compelling)
God’s people, help grow and be a part of the Glorious Kingdom of God and turn others to Jesus. Not only for us, but for their health, heart and home.
PRAISE
Four questions
What For?
How Often?
Where At?
How So?
Four Verses
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
So panteth my soul after thee, O God.
My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God:
When shall I come and appear before God?
My tears have been my meat day and night,
While they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?
When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me:
For I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God,
With the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me?
Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him
For the help of his countenance.
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
O come, let us sing unto the Lord:
Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving,
And make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
For the Lord is a great God,
And a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the deep places of the earth:
The strength of the hills is his also.
The sea is his, and he made it:
And his hands formed the dry land.
O come, let us worship and bow down:
Let us kneel before the Lord our maker.
For he is our God;
And we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.
To day if ye will hear his voice,
Harden not your heart, as in the provocation,
And as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
What’s that mean to us? (Answer Key)
God’s Glory
Anytime
Anywhere
Did you Listen? The answer is everything you’ve heard and more.
What we already bring to God, is not enough.
We bring our Burdens
We bring our Sorrows
bring our Troubles
bring out Hate
our Manipulations
our Lies
Sin
It all narrows down to sin. Everything we put in God’s hands it seems, is an affect of sin. “God fix these things in my life.” We need to tell him our troubles, but we also need to give him all the praise possible, and more when he takes care of even our smallest of small burdens.
Times we all give God praise already.
Salvation of loved ones or close friends.
Sickness/Illnesses cured
Beautiful Skies and Scenery
Scary self (near death) experiences (ex. Car crashes, falling down a flight of stairs, electrocution, etc.)
But what about our burdens in our everyday life that we go through, rather than something that bothers us for a few days or something that God himself has laid on our heart as a burden. (ex. Living Paycheck to paycheck and your job keeps getting worse, every time you turn around something in your house or car breaks, etc.)
How about instead, “God, thank you for everything you’ve given us, even though we’re stilling seemingly pushy ourselves through a rock and a hard place.”
Sometimes it get hard looking into the light, when all that surrounds us is darkness. Give God praise for everything, nothing is worth it without him.
