Introduction

Online Seminar with Jeff and Travis / strong emphasis on helping the church see the theme of missions throughout Scripture
People who rightfully read the Word of God will constantly be reminded of God’s mission in this world
Testimony of Ty Pepperdine. I either have to do something or stop reading this Book.
Somebody give me your favorite O.T. missions passage.
Goals for the Night
Help you see and understand the redemptive, missional story of the Old Testament:
Though the Old Testament seems to be focused on Israel, it was always focused on so much more than that.
Many stories in the OT clearly point to God desiring for the Gospel to go beyond the nation of Israel Help our people understand the Biblical basis for missions in the storyline of Scripture
God is glorified by the worship of the nations.
The best thing for every human being is to worship God.
God’s desire and promise is that every tribe, tongue and nation will be before his throne worshipping him.
The goal of missions is primarily the glory of God; Secondarily (though also extremely important) is to save sinners from the kingdom of darkness and all that comes with that slavery.
This theme is woven throughout the storyline of Scripture. God uses people to share His name.

Glory

The word “glory” in scripture refers to the essential worth, beauty and value of people, created things and, of course, the Creator Himself.
The Hebrew word for glory is a word meaning weight, substance, and at the same time, brilliance or radiant beauty.
To glorify someone is to recognize their intrinsic worth and beauty, and to speak of that feature in a public way.
To glorify God is to praise or to speak of Him openly and truthfully.
Glory is at the heart of true worship throughout the Scriptures:
Psalm 86:9 “9 All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.”
Psalm 86:9 KJV
9 All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.
Philippians 3:3 “3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.”
Philippians 3:3 KJV
3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
The idea of “glory” also describes honor that can be given or awarded.
When someone is exalted or made great, they are, to some so rich in glory that He bestows extravagant honors upon His human servants without compromising His own majesty in the slightest.
Jesus exposed our habit of seeking “glory from one another,” and yet failing to “seek the glory that is from the one and only God” John 5:44 “44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?”
John 5:44 KJV
44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

The Name of God

Throughout the larger story, the biblical authors use the idea of the “name of God” as a key idea.
To distinguish the functions of reference, revelation and reputation, it may help to sort out the usages with three easy-to-remember categories:
Name-Tag
the function is reference.
There are the names themselves used to designate God in the Bible.
God is never anonymous in His story. He uses many names for Himself.
It is just as true to refer to the God of scripture as “Lord of hosts” as it is to refer to Him as “God Almighty,” or “Judge of all the earth” or “King of glory.”
Each of these names is truly God’s name.
Window Name
The function is revelation.
God is pleased to disclose Himself accurately by many different expressive phrases.
For example, anyone who spends a few minutes pondering the biblical name “The Lord is my Shepherd” will have a better understanding of the nurturing kindness of God.
Fame Name
The function is God’s reputation.
God reveals glory to all nations in order that He might receive glory from people through worship.
The idea of His public renown.
God’s name is the body of truth about Himself which He has displayed and declared in the long-unfolding story of the Bible.
The Hebrew people were not only to treasure this story, but they were also to tell it.
Unlike the way of many religions, God’s revelation was never to be a secret affair for a few people.
Isaiah calls Israel to “make known His deeds among the peoples,” so that the nations are steadily reminded that “His name is exalted” (Isa 12:4).
Isaiah 12:4 KJV
4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
As we shall see, much of the story of the Bible recounts what God has done to make His name great among the nations.
This is what what we are speaking of primarly in missions. 3 John 7 “7 Because that for his name’s sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.”
3 John 7 KJV
7 Because that for his name’s sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.

Worship

Why does God want to be known with such precision? God wants to be more than globally famous—He yearns to be truly worshiped. God Reveals Glory to Receive Glory direction of His glory is toward the world. He shows His glory to people throughout the earth. He reveals who He is and what He has done in order to bring about the second direction of glory—that people might give Him glory in loving worship. God reveals glory to all nations in order that He might receive glory from people through worship. Psalm 96 shows these two directions o
Psalm 96 KJV
1 O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth. 2 Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. 3 Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. 4 For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods. 5 For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens. 6 Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. 7 Give unto the LORD, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength. 8 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts. 9 O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth. 10 Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously. 11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. 12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice 13 Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.

The Bible is the Story of God’s Glory

The Bible is basically a story about God. When we turn to the Bible as a self-help book, we end up bored or frustrated with what seems to be a rambling collection of stories. What if the Bible is more about God than it is about us?
Proverbs 16:4 “4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.”
Proverbs 16:4 KJV
4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
The Lord works everything to its appropriate end, even the wicked for an evil day. - Bruce Walke

People throughout history have (and continue) to be ignorant of the true God.

1. Pharaoh
God is answering a question in the Plagues and Red Sea Crossing. Exodus 5:2 “2 And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.”
Exodus 5:2 KJV
2 And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.
God receive fame, renown from the crossing of the Red Sea. Exodus 14:3–4 “3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in. 4 And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.”
Exodus 14:3–4 KJV
3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in. 4 And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.
2. Goliath
Look at David’s motive in killing the giant. 1 Samuel 17:45–46 “45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. 46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.”
1 Samuel 17:45–46 KJV
45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. 46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
You will see that you have been following the wrong main actor. The story is not about us, or even Israel. It is the story of His glory.
3. Nebuchadnezzar
Another question is asked Daniel 3:15 “15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?”
Daniel 3:15 KJV
15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
The story is the answer. Daniel 3:29 “29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.”
Daniel 3:29 KJV
29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.

God wants to be known – not simply by name – God wants to be known globally as GOD

Psalm 46:10 “10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalm 46:10 KJV
10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
Ezekiel 38:23 “23 Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.”
Ezekiel 38:23 KJV
23 Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.
We aren’t just teaching the world a name. We are telling people who God is. We are telling the story of His glory in missions.
1. Pharaoh (Exodus 7:5; 8:10; 9:14; 10:1-2; 12:12; 14:4, 17-18, 27-31;)
Exodus 7:5 KJV
5 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.
Exodus 8:10 KJV
10 And he said, To morrow. And he said, Be it according to thy word: that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the LORD our God.
Exodus 9:14 KJV
14 For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth.
Exodus 10:1–2 KJV
1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him: 2 And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son’s son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD.
Exodus 12:12 KJV
12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
Exodus 14:4 KJV
4 And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.
Exodus 14:17–18 KJV
17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. 18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
Exodus 14:27–31 KJV
27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. 29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. 30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. 31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.
2. Israelites (Exodus 16:12; 20:1-5; 23:13; 34:14)
Exodus 16:12 KJV
12 I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.
Exodus 20:1–5 KJV
1 And God spake all these words, saying, 2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
Exodus 23:13 KJV
13 And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.
Exodus 34:14 KJV
14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

The Story is about God’s name.

God reveals His plan regarding His own name.

Exodus 9:16 “16 And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.”
Exodus 9:16 KJV
16 And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
Psalm 106:8 “8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.”
Psalm 106:8 KJV
8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
Romans 9:17 “17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.”
Romans 9:17 KJV
17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

This is the repeated refrain throughout Scripture

1. Israel’s national welfare
1 Samuel 12:22 “22 For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people.”
1 Samuel 12:22 KJV
22 For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people.
2 Samuel 7:23 “23 And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?”
2 Samuel 7:23 KJV
23 And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?
2 Kings 19:34 “34 For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.”
2 Kings 19:34 KJV
34 For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.
2. The Psalmist’s prayers
Psalm 31:3 “3 For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.”
Psalm 31:3 KJV
3 For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.
Psalm 25:11 “11 For thy name’s sake, O LORD, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.”
Psalm 25:11 KJV
11 For thy name’s sake, O LORD, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.
3. Conversation of the Disciples
James quotes from Peter about God’s mission to the Gentiles Acts 15:14 “14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.”
Acts 15:14 KJV
14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

It is the real or underlining story in all stories

Story of Esther - many details (give me details)
The book of Esther not only demonstrates God’s faithfulness to keep His people, but also resolves a
prophecy nearly 1,000 years old! The book of Esther shows the fulfilment of Ex 17:14!
Exodus 17:14 KJV
14 And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
Exodus 17:14 “14 And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.”

Story of Gideon
Judges 6:6–10 “6 And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD. 7 And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD because of the Midianites, 8 That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage; 9 And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land; 10 And I said unto you, I am the LORD your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice.”
Judges 6:6–10 KJV
6 And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD. 7 And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD because of the Midianites, 8 That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage; 9 And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land; 10 And I said unto you, I am the LORD your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice.
Judges 6:13 “13 And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.”
Judges 6:13 KJV
13 And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.
Judges 8:1 “1 And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou served us thus, that thou calledst us not, when thou wentest to fight with the Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply.”
Judges 8:1 KJV
1 And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou served us thus, that thou calledst us not, when thou wentest to fight with the Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply.

Judges 8:23 KJV
23 And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the LORD shall rule over you.
God receives glory to His name.
Sidenote: Gideon takes an earing from each group. It becomes an idol. Gideon dies. People worship it. Cycle continues.

God accomplish His goal of global fame through the deliverance of His people from Egypt.

Words of Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law Exodus 18:1 “1 When Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses’ father in law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt;”
Exodus 18:1 KJV
1 When Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses’ father in law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt;
Rahab’s testimony Joshua 2:10–11 “10 For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. 11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.”
Joshua 2:10–11 KJV
10 For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. 11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.
Prayer of the Levites back from exile Nehemiah 9:9–10 “9 And didst see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red sea; 10 And shewedst signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them. So didst thou get thee a name, as it is this day.”
Nehemiah 9:9–10 KJV
9 And didst see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red sea; 10 And shewedst signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them. So didst thou get thee a name, as it is this day.
Daniel mentioned in his prayer that God had gotten Himself worldwide fame through the Exodus – 1500 years after the fact! Daniel 9:15 “15 And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.”
Daniel 9:15 KJV
15 And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.
The Philistines in Samuel’s day were aware and fearful of the God of Israel because of what He had done years ago in Egypt. 1 Samuel 6:6 “6 Wherefore then do ye harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? when he had wrought wonderfully among them, did they not let the people go, and they departed?”
1 Samuel 6:6 KJV
6 Wherefore then do ye harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? when he had wrought wonderfully among them, did they not let the people go, and they departed?

Moses understands the importance of God’s name

God proclaimed His name to Moses along the way Exodus 34:5–8 “5 And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. 6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, 7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation. 8 And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.”
Exodus 34:5–8 KJV
5 And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. 8 And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.
Moses appeals to God for His namesake Numbers 14:15–16 “15 Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying, 16 Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness.”
Numbers 14:15–16 KJV
15 Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying, 16 Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness.
God guards the holiness of His name Leviticus 22:2 “2 Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name in those things which they hallow unto me: I am the LORD.”
Leviticus 22:2 KJV
2 Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name in those things which they hallow unto me: I am the LORD.

4. God is jealous for His own glory

Let me state it as clearly as possible. Nothing to be ashamed here. Student once asked why this was okay.
Isaiah 42:8 “8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”
Isaiah 42:8 KJV
8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
Moses’ unique request to see God’s glroy and how it is protected. Exodus 33:22 “22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:”
Exodus 33:22 KJV
22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
God’s summary after hearing Moses’ argument Numbers 14:21 “21 But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.”
Numbers 14:21 KJV
21 But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.
Psalmist declarations of God’s glory Psalm 108:5 “5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth;”
Psalm 108:5 KJV
5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth;
Isaiah recounting God’s purpose Isaiah 66:18 “18 For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.”
Isaiah 66:18 KJV
18 For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.
Hezekiah prays for God to answer in ways that will glorify His name among the nations Isaiah 37:18–20 “18 Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations, and their countries, 19 And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them. 20 Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD, even thou only.”
Isaiah 37:18–20 KJV

His glory is top priority Isaiah 61:3 “3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.”
Isaiah 61:3 KJV
