Peter’s Position
Peter’s Position
Peter identifies himself as the one purchased by the precious blood of Christ; therefore, he is a bondservant—slave—devoted wholly to his master and subjected to the will of Jesus Christ his Lord (Life Application Commentary).
Peter is an apostle who serves at the pleasure our our God and savior Jesus Christ.
The phrase “I serve at the pleasure of the president” means that a person holds a position or office with the understanding that their tenure is subject to the discretion of the president. This implies that the president has the authority to appoint or dismiss the individual at any time, based on their judgment or preference.
This phrase is often used in the context of political appointments, particularly for positions in the executive branch of government, such as cabinet members or other high-ranking officials. It highlights the loyalty and accountability expected from these officials to the president, who ultimately has the power to make staffing decisions. We have received the same kind of faith
We have received the same kind of faith
Peter writes to believers, who have received the same value of faith, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Can you hear Peter say? As I kneel in the darkness in the middle of the night
I’m praying for assurance everything’s gonna be alright
Lord I see another battle out in front of me
I’m afraid I won’t be able and I’ll go down in defeat
And He said, do you remember where I brought you from
Just take a look behind you and see how far you’ve come
And every-time you asked me, didn’t I deliver you
So why would you be thinking that I wouldn’t see you through
Didn’t I walk on the water and I calmed the raging sea I spoke to the wind, it hushed and I gave you peace Didn’t I run to your rescue, didn’t I hear you when you called.
I walked right beside you just so you wouldn’t fall
Didn’t I leave all of heaven just to die for your sins, searched until I found you and Id do it all again.
The precious shed blood of Christ grants us the same kind of faith.
Growing in the true knowledge of our God and Savior
Growing in the true knowledge of our God and Savior
We come to know God at conversion or rather know we are known (Galatias 4:9) and we begin receiving grace (unmerited favor) and peace (between God and us). this exact or true knowledge must lead to life change—behavior change (2 Peter 1:3)
