This Week’s Theme: Serving Together Faithfully
Word for the Week is Faithful: God’s people are called to reflect His faithfulness by being truthful and dependable in their work and ways.
Memory verse: 1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.
Sermon Passage: Jeremiah 36:4-8,16-18; 45:1-5
INTRODUCTION: MINISTRY IS NOT MEANT TO BE DONE ALONE. CHRISTIANS NEED OTHER CHRISTIANS TO ASSIST, TO ENCOURAGE, TO BUILD UP, AND TO WORK WITH IN UNITY. Yet, our enemy, the devil has instituted a vicious attack against this mindset. He has convinced many believers that they don’t need the brothers and sisters in the body of Christ.
LISTEN TO Jeremiah 36:2-3
Jeremiah 36:2–3 NKJV
2 “Take a scroll of a book and write on it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah even to this day. 3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the adversities which I purpose to bring upon them, that everyone may turn from his evil way, that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.”

I. BE AVAILABLE

Jeremiah 36:4 NKJV
4 Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah; and Baruch wrote on a scroll of a book, at the instruction of Jeremiah, all the words of the Lord which He had spoken to him.
EXPLAIN: BARUCH WAS AVAILABLE WHEN THE CALL CAME. HE DID NOT MAKE EXCUSES WHEN CALLED BY JEREMIAH THE PROPHET.
Matthew 4:20-22 20 And they straightway left [their] nets, and followed him. 21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James [the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. 22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
ILLUSTRATION: IN ISAIAH CHAPTER 6, ISAIAH THE PROPHET SAY A VISION OF THE THRONE ROOM OF GOD
Isaiah 6:8 (NKJV) Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here [am] I! Send me.”
APPLICATION:
SOME OF YOU ARE NOT AVAILABLE BECAUSE YOU HAVE

MADE OTHER THINGS A PRIORITY

Luke 9:59 NKJV
59 Then He said to another, “Follow Me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”
Luke 9:61–62 NKJV
61 And another also said, “Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house.” 62 But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
THIS IS WANT PAUL MEANT WHEN HE SAID IN Philippians 2:21
Philippians 2:21 NKJV
21 For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus.
SOME OF YOU MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE BECAUSE YOU HAVE

FORSAKEN THE RIGHT WAY

2 Peter 2:15 NKJV
15 They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
DON’T BE LIKE JONAH, WHO RAN FROM GOD
DON’T HAVE YOUR TESTIMONY BE LIKE DEMAS
2 Timothy 4:10 NKJV
10 for Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica—Crescens for Galatia, Titus for Dalmatia.

Jeremiah 36:6 NKJV
6 You go, therefore, and read from the scroll which you have written at my instruction, the words of the Lord, in the hearing of the people in the Lord’s house on the day of fasting. And you shall also read them in the hearing of all Judah who come from their cities.
Jeremiah 36:8 NKJV
8 And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading from the book the words of the Lord in the Lord’s house.
Jeremiah 36:13–15 NKJV
13 Then Michaiah declared to them all the words that he had heard when Baruch read the book in the hearing of the people. 14 Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, “Take in your hand the scroll from which you have read in the hearing of the people, and come.” So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand and came to them. 15 And they said to him, “Sit down now, and read it in our hearing.” So Baruch read it in their hearing.
EXPLAIN: BARUCH FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN BY JEREMIAH

Jeremiah 36:5–6 NKJV
