RoadMap
Liberalism generally
Feminism, the LGBTQ movement, Transgenderism,
We are starting today with some U.S. History, why?
Because the craziness of our culture did not happen overnight. The generation of our parents and our grandparents and our great grandparents generally speaking dropped the ball on holding to Scripture.
Let’s Talk.

Important Verses

2 Peter 1:21 LSB
21 For no prophecy was ever made by the will of man, but men being moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
Titus 1:9 LSB
9 holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to reprove those who contradict.

Terms that you will hear

Christian Liberalism
Definition of the Word:
How this is different from politics
Is liberty a bad thing?
Is being free from the Bible a good thing?
Systematic Theology: An Introduction to Biblical Doctrine (Second Edition) E. Liberal Protestant Theology Understands the Bible to Be Merely Human Words, Not God’s Words

liberal Protestants understand the writings of the Bible to be merely human writings, “a fallible human record of religious thought and experience.” Therefore, according to liberalism, the Bible contains historical inaccuracies, internal inconsistencies, and, most importantly, outdated theological and ethical teachings that we must reject as unacceptable in today’s world.

Reason
“Demons seem like they are made up. People do not rise from the dead. You cannot part a large body of water naturally. Fire does not just fall from heaven.
Experience
I have met gay people who are nice to me. I have met straight Christians who are mean. Therefore, it is not actually wrong to be gay.
Post Modernism
Subjective Truth

Thomas Jefferson (The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth)

Biblical Inerrancy
Virgin Birth
Matthew 1:20–23 ESV
20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
Hell
Matthew 7:21–23 ESV
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Miracles
Matthew 8:16–17 ESV
16 That evening they brought to him many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”
Penal Substitution
Matthew 20:28 ESV
28 even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Physical Resurrection of Jesus
Matthew 28:5–6 LSB
5 And the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. 6 “He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.
Conclusion:
So what went wrong for TJ
For deciding authority in his life, he put his own mind over the Bible
He desired to be free of the authority
He took liberties when reading the Scriptures
Modern Day:
It is not uncommon today for someone to say that they belief in Jesus, but may not necessarily believe that the Bible is true
But what this is my friends is unbelief, rejection of the Gospel that is in a disguise.
This is why this movement has been so powerful. It will use Christian words like love, justice, equality, all while denying the Scritpures.
