Exodus is the same as Revelation. You realize that Revelation is the redemption of Israel once again from the world. Plagues the blood and the second coming the promised land.
The theme of the book of Exodus is Redemption.
Exodus 6:6–7 Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the Lord; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the Lord your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
We stared with Israel as slaves in Egypt, their children were being slaughtered they were ruled under the iron fist of a cruel dictator. The lamb of the Passover died paying the price and they were set free. God wanted to have a relationship with them. He would sustain them on their way to the promised land.
Christian, Jesus has redeemed you.
Colossians 1:13–14 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
You were a slave to sin. Jesus died to pay for your sins with His blood on the cross. Today we are on our way to the promised land. There will be bumps along the way. We will need to be set back on the straight and narrow. God will need to scold us when we complain. Still we are redeemed and on our way to the promised land.
The journey to promised land is about faith.
Hebrews 11:29–30 By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned. By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days.
I Know you might say well that verse is about leaving Egypt and entering the promised land. You are talking about the middle. Let me tell you our journey is one of faith.
Our journey is all about faith.
2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Our journey of Faith includes trusting God to guide your steps.
Proverbs 3:5–6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
The redeemed trust God for salvation.
Exodus 14:13 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.
How did the Israelites defeat the Egyptians, in their own power, NO. Their salvation came by faith. Not by any works of the their own. I heard a great old preacher say this week. Without God we have NOTHING. If he took away his grace from you tomorrow, it would all be gone. Do you thank him for that.
The redeemed trust God for healing.
Exodus 15:26 and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.”
This is talking spiritual, physical, and emotional healing. IF you need healing, look to God. Some people only think about God and prayers the moment bad things happen and they think about him for a second true faith trusts in God at all times.
The redeemed trust God for their food.
Exodus 16:4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you. And the people shall go out and gather a certain quota every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not.
The redeemed trust God for living water.
Exodus 17:6 Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.” And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
I believe all these principles are found in the new testament. Give us this day our daily bread, ask and I will give you living water all things work together for Good to those who love God. THE REDEEMED walk by faith. Since I have been redeemed.
The Redeemed trust God to fight their battles.
Exodus 23:22 But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.
The redeemed trust God enough to let Him into their daily lives.
Exodus 29:46 And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them up out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them. I am the Lord their God.
The redeemed trust God enough to rest secure in His presence.
Exodus 33:14 And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
If you are God’s child living a life of faith there will be times when you need to rest in the presence of God. Life is bumpy the children of God rest trust in Him and rest in His promises.
The Redeemed trust God enough to talk to Him.
Exodus 34:29 Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him.
The Redeemed trust God enough to give Him one day a week.
Exodus 35:1–3 Then Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel together, and said to them, “These are the words which the Lord has commanded you to do: Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh day shall be a holy day for you, a Sabbath of rest to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. You shall kindle no fire throughout your dwellings on the Sabbath day.”
This verse does not mean you spend all day in church on Sunday. I believe that is part of it. But the Sabbath is also about rest. Some people like our 8 AM service they come and worship then they go home and rest. Some people like coming to three service a day. Doesn’t matter, the important part is that you set aside one day for the LORD. You should worship and rest.
The Redeemed trust God until the work is finished.
Exodus 39:43 Then Moses looked over all the work, and indeed they had done it; as the Lord had commanded, just so they had done it. And Moses blessed them.
He’s still working on me.
The Redeemed trust that God speaks to them in His house.
Exodus 40:34–35 Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter the tabernacle of meeting, because the cloud rested above it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.
You come to church to hear from God. Not to see a friend, not to meet a girl, not for social networking, not for a cup of coffee, not to listen to the preacher of for the singing. You come to church to listen to God. How many people remember something they heard in church that the pastor probably wouldn’t remember saying.
The Redeemed trust God to lead their every step.
Exodus 40:36–38 Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would go onward in all their journeys. But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not journey till the day that it was taken up. For the cloud of the Lord was above the tabernacle by day, and fire was over it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.
Step by step you lead me and I will follow you all of my days.
Let me though in a bonus, the Redeemed trust God for their shoes and clothes. That is found in Deuteronomy but I didn’t include it hear but I wanted to mention it with following God with all our steps.
This is how I started the message and this is how I will close it do you trust God for everything..
The Redeemed follow God until the journey is done and beyond.
Matthew 25:23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.”
