Hello everyone! My name is Kenneth Padgett, and I’m the Director of Dwell Kids.
I’d love to take a quick moment to tell you a little more about me.
I am a husband of one wildly beautiful wife and a father to two young girls with gold-gilded hair, sweet smiles, and big hearts.
I was born and raised in the South Carolina lowcountry. If you’re not familiar with this area it’s the part of South Carolina near the Atlantic Ocean. We have beautiful inter-coastal waterways, palmetto trees, ancient live oaks with big mossy beards, and Azaleas everywhere you look. I currently live in Charleston, SC, a city where you can still hear the clattering of horse-drawn carriages and smell a mixture of jasmine, honeysuckle, and magnolia flowers as you walk down Church street. In fact Charleston is called the The Holy City, because our skyline is made up of church steeples rather than skyscrapers.
So, two things you now know about me is that I’m a family man who loves where I live…I guess there really is no place like home.
What else, let’s see, I love stories. I love big epic adventures where noble knights slay crafty fire-breathing dragons, where kings are installed on long vacant thrones and worlds are remade. But, I also love simple stories of secret gardens, green gables, and little houses on wide prairies.
But the greatest story there ever was, the true story of the whole world, the story you and I are currently living in, makes my heart sing songs of wonder to the great Author of it all. The Bible is my favorite story.
So at the crossroads of these three wonders, Home, story, and Bible, is where you’ll find me working the hardest. I write picture books for families that tell the story of the Bible, check out The Story of God trilogy from Wolfbane Books (which happens to be a publishing house I co-founded with my buddy Shay Gregorie, another Dwell Kids Daily Guide), I have a podcast called The Story of God Podcast, I love teaching in churches and encouraging parents to harness the power of story for the sake of the kingdom. I’m also on the tail end of a PhD in the Old Testament, so nerding out on the Bible is near and dear to my heart.
All this makes me SO excited to be the Director of Dwell Kids, and to be a part of Dwell Kids Daily. It is my prayer that Dwell Kids is a big blessing to you and your family. Now, as you dwell with the God of the Bible may he bless you, keep you and make his face shine upon you, may he be gracious to you and give you lasting peace.
