Healing my Hurts

The prerequisite to all subsequent text that we’ll be dealing with is the word Healing. And so

What is healing? .Healing is the restoration of body, mind, or spirit to a state of wholeness and well-being. This restoration may be physical, as in the recovery from an illness or injury, or spiritual, as in the forgiveness of sins and justification before God.

Ultimately, healing is embodied by Jesus, as he healed the sicknesses of many in his earthly ministry and secured ultimate healing for all in his death on the cross and subsequent resurrection.

Isaiah 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53: 4  But he took our suffering on him and felt our pain for us.We saw his suffering and thought God was punishing him.

5. But he was wounded for the wrong we did; he was crushed for the evil we did. The punishment, which made us well, was given to him, and we are healed because of his wounds.

II. Following Protocol James 5: 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. 14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

When there are sick among us the vocational calling of the leadership team is that we respond appropriately. Listen to me people need you when they need you. They’re not going to call you everyday for nothing. They know that your time and their time is valuable, so in reality nobody is going to call you to get a kitten out of a tree.Nobody is going to call you to come to their home and get them a glass of water or make them a cup of coffee. When they are sick and they call.... you better be going!!! Because the Boss.. means what He says and says what he means.. I am a representative of God. I go to see about our members because God sent me when they called. And if taking care of the least of these bother you, well this might not be your vocational calling. Because verse 14 says and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: I’m so glad it didn’t just say Rev but deacons and deaconess too Let them pray over him… Then anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. When you know better you do better. The anointing breaks the yokes. There is power in anointing folk with oil But it has to be in the name of the Lord!!! Listen to me without sending the Oil to a place sending the Oil with a purpose and without prophetically speaking to the Oil in the Name of the Lord you just making people greases.

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. We pray in faith! you and I don’t know which way the good Lord is going to do things. We don’t rally know the end result so we keep praying for God’s divine intervention. And if the Lord raise him up good and if the Lord does not raise him up good because sometimes death is the greatest healer. It’s all in the Lord’s Hands we just have to do our part. Because when you pray for a dying man or a dying woman and you say Lord forgive us of our debts as we forgive our debtors, or we say Lord forgive our trespasses as we forgive those that trespass against us, You’re giving an opportunity and a chance for forgiveness and without forgiveness we cannot go to heaven any old how. Our sins have to be forgiven. Because Jesus died for our sins. So it must be a big deal to God that our sins be remitted.

And that’s why!!! If you’ve done wrong, you can’t just resume back into a position of leadership without repentance and forgiveness. God will forgive you but you got to go humbly before God and His people and ask for forgiveness.

I’ve asked the church to beg my pardon before. I’m not too big to admit when I am wrong! And you ought not be too big to admit when you’re wrong either. Because admitting that you are not Mr. perfect or Ms I know I’m right all the time. Admitting that you’re wrong sometimes can actually help you.Let me prove it look at verse 16 and let’s read it together “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

1. When the text says confess your faults it simply mean that we say Please forgive me I have sinned but you don’t have to go into deep detail about your sins, because God already knows all about them. You’re just saying out loud that you have some problems.( Everybody say I’ve got some problems… Now say Please forgive me…) And after that they ought to forgive you and move on..

2. Then the word of power says and pray for them, not prey on them. It had a country western song that said I pray for you… It said something like I wish your car have a flat while driving a 105. I pray for you.. I wish you have a birthday party and nobody shows up I pray for you… And so sometimes people are not praying for you… They are praying against you. People try all kind of stuff. making potions casting spells cooking up a root birying fake idol voo doo dolls. Louisiana is a strange place that have root is praying not for people’s benefit but preying for their demise.

3. That ye may be healed. This is powerful because not we look to results. We see the purpose in our prayer. and

The word for healed in the Greek in this text is the word (iaomai, “to heal”) and it describes the process of restoration to health Greek Word: ἰάομαι Transliteration: iaomai Phonetic Pronunciation: ee-ah’-om-ahee ( ee ah o my) Root: middle voice of apparently a primary verb Cross Reference: TDNT - 3:194,344 Part of Speech: v Vine’s Words: Heal, Healing, Whole, Wholly, Wholesome James Strong, “Ἰάομαι,” Strong’s Talking Greek and Hebrew Dictionary (WORDsearch, 2020).

4. The lastly The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Deesis (day a sis)

Also in similar fashion there are a variety of Both Hebrew and Greek terms that describe the process or act of healing.

In Hebrew, the most common words for healing is

1. (come from the root רָפָא) (rāpāʾ, “to heal”) which describes a process of restoration to a state of well-being or wholeness.

2. (Other terms, such as שָׁלוֹם) (šālôm, “peace, wholeness”) and

.אֲרוּכָה (ʾ3.ărûkâ, “healing, restoration refer to the staof wholeness that results from an act of healing or restoration.

Other terms carry their own connotations, but still fall into the general category of restoration to a state of wholeness.

4. In the NT, the most common term for healing is θεραπεύω (therapeuō, “to heal”), followed by ἰάομαι omit(iaomai, “to heal”) and related words, which describe the process of restoration to health in similar fashion to the Hebrew terms.

These terms are also used to indicate spiritual healing, whether from demonic possession or in relation to salvation.

5.In addition, the verb σῴζω (sōzō, “to save”) can refer to an act of healing.

Numbers 12:13 So Moses cried out to the LORD, “God, please heal her!”1 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. Miriam and Aaron showed their prejudice against Moses’ wife because she was a Black woman. There is no other apparent reason.

1. She’s from Ethiopia she’s black. I’ve seen Ethiopian Women they are beautiful women.

2. How many times have Black women had to overcome racism right here in America.

3. Moses’ wife had to be worthy or Moses wouldn’t have married her. This speaks to that JIM CROW 2.0 The Black woman is smart but you insult her intelligence.In 2024 in American politic The Black woman is a prosecutor attorney general senator vice president and now nominee for President of the USA. While on the other hand we have dumb Donald the defrauder in chief.Dumb Donald the Jan 6 Insurrectionist, Soar loser,hate organizer, who specialty is to divide because of race creed and color.

4.So Moses’ wife is Black and she has to be twice as smart to half way get equal rights. Then verse 2 says

2 And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.

1.Note for the record that Miriam ans Aaron didn’t say that before Moses was married to Zippohra .

2. Miriam and Aaron are trying to engage in a credibility challenge and the reason is because he’s married to that black woman. Racism have been here from the beginning.

3. The insult toward the Man of God is ridiculous rude and reckless. And so the bible says

3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

1. And because Moses stuttered Miriam ans Aaron took advantage of him.

2.Because Moses was a mild mannered meek man his own sister and brother took his meekness for weakness.

3. Listen at Miriam You ain’t the only one God talks to…Listen to Miriam “boy if it wasn’t for me you’d be dead. I’m the one that floated you in the shallow waters of the Nile river. I’m the one that helped Pharoah’s daughter spot you and then I was the one that drew you out of the waters of the Nile River. In fact “boy I was the one that helped mama make that little basket that floated you down the river. Boy I was the one that helped Pharaoh's daughter find mama to be your wet nurse. So don’t come telling me that I ain’t got no say so! oo oo! And Moses’ must have said Miriam IIIIII wasn’t saying that Miriam All I’m saying is God talks to me then I talk you you’ll. Moses’ character is revealed he was meek above all the men on the face of the earth.And the bible says in verse

4 And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out.

1. God said Stop that arguing in my tabernacle my tent, my temple , my synagogue, my church, my house.

2. Anybody in their right mind would have said O Oh we in trouble now.

3.

5 And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.

1. Notice that God didn’t call Moses?

2. God called Aaron and Miriam because they were the one that were out of order.

3. Don’t punish everybody for what a few did wrong.

4. And the late great Dr Cleveland Washington said Allen from Port Allen if they cut up and carry on publicly, then rebuke them publicly. Aaron and Miriam acted up in God’s Church and God called them out.

6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.

1. This verse speaks to the sovereignty of God. God can do what He wants When He wants to whomever He want as long as He wants. Because He is the Almighty God. And so when we’re planning and moving chess pieces around on the board we ought to make sure it’s God’s plan.

2. God said If I want to speak to my preacher my prophet, my bishop, my elder, my Ekklesian, my pastor God said I know how to get in touch with him.

3. Don’t try to put words in Moses’ mouth because I’m going to hold him accountable for what is said to my people.

4. God said if I’ve got something to say to Moses I’ll tell him not no you.

5. The finally The last part of the verse is personal to me, because I had full intentions of taking the bible study in a different direction and in the middle of my sleep God showed me a vision of Healing.. I said whattttt I’ve been there before I want to go in this direction and the Lord said HUSH UP, BE QUIET, SHUT UP, JUST LISTEN AND I’LL MAKE YOU LEARN THE DIRECTION OF THIS QUEST. AND SO CHURCH NOW WE’RE ON A SPIRITUAL CONQUEST TO FIND FAVOR IN HEALING SCRIPTURES THAT MATTER TO GOD AND OUGHT TO MATTER TO GOD’S PEOPLE.

Listen to what God says to Moses

7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.

1. Let me use my ebonics Moses ain’t like no you.

2. Y’all ain’t the same, ya’ll know that right?

3. Y’all can’t be Moses because I chose Moses not no you.

God said in verse 8

8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?1.I’ll talk to Moses mouth to mouth.

2. I speak to Moses clearly,

3.God said I’m not speaking in riddles with hidden meanings.I say what I mean and I mean what I say.

4. Miriam and Aaron Moses has even seen the form of the LORD. Y’all ain’t never saw that. Ya’ll haven’t been in my Shekeiah Glory presence like Moses.

5. Verse 8. says Miriam and Aaron You’ll should be afraid to even fix your mouth to speak against my servant Moses.” Listen Ya’ll Moses stutters and can’t talk as fast as Miriam the fuss box and Aaron that follow everything Miriam tell him to do.

But God sits up high and looks down low and verse 9 says

9 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. The thing about verse 9 that I’ve discovered in my years of ministry is that when God gets mad and angry because of what we’ve done, There are consequences for our actions. And God doesn’t reward bad behavior… And we ought not either.

II. Miriam's leprosy is healed though God commands her to be shut out of the host

10 And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.

1. Miriam was struck with Leprosy.

2. I get the feeling that God struck Miriam because she did most of the rebuking toward Moses.

3. On a personal note my grandfather didn’t like Rev Payne He wanted my Uncle Rev Leroy Banks Jr. but the people wanted Rev Payne and he gave Rev Payne hell!! and I believe that God made him suffer in his last days because he was fighting the man of God.

So look at the text in verse 11 And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned.

1. Aaron now comes with the respect towards Moses but as the high priest Aaron knew better from jump street. He was just following big sister Miriam.

2. Moses lay not the sin upon us, In other words WE see that you are connected to God and what ever you say that’s how it’s going to be. Moses you are God’s mouth piece.

3. Aaron said Moses we did wrong 2x it was foolish but it was our flesh that caused us to sin and foolishly buck up against the Lord’s man.

4. Listen to me, I am God’s man. I am His servant. I am His Prisoner. I am duty bound to follow His orders. And occasionally you may see the human side of me the domesticated side of me the regular side of me, but when I’m in teaching preaching and pastoring mode I’m a different person altogether. I’m a different animal once these scriptures have to be delivered. And with God it’s first class mail.

12 Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother's womb.

Aaron is saying Moses while we are sojourning to the Promise Land if you don’t help her Miriam is a goner. Moses she’s done for if the Lord doesn’t help her. And Aaron said Moses this is one of the worst cases of leprosy that I’ve ever seen . The bible says that Miriam was white as snow.That means that Miriam had full blown leprosy in an instance. Like stage 4 cancer like congegative heart failure, like kidney failure, like hiv aide in it’s worst case and stage.

On a personal note, the reason I don’t play around is because #1 I love my wife but #2 more importantly is because I don’t want something worst to come upon me as a result of my foolish behavior. Man when God gives you a second chance at life You ought act right. And so without divine intervention Miriam id Done For!!! and Aaron knows it. Moses knows it too. Because in verse 13

13 And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee. There it is!!! 4x. Right there Heal her now, In other word Lord This can’t wait… That night when I was recovering from cancer surgery and I was crashing… My whole family prayed and petitioned the throne of God My blood pressure had dropped my sugar had dropped my vital signs had dropped and If God have not have intervened that night Y’all wouldn’t have ever met me. Miriam was going to die in short order and Moses cried out to God heal Her Now O God, Please.. Please Please. Don’t miss that part right there I beseech you dear God. Please look pass her faults and see about Miriam’s needs. I can hear Moses saying Lord if you don’t help her she won’t do so well.

And verse 14 says

14 And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again. the NCV14 The LORD answered Moses, “If her father had spit in her face, she would have been shamed for seven days, so put her outside the camp for seven days. After that, she may come back.” In other words this is a punishment of shame Like somebody who spit in your face. But not just anybody (Your Father spits in your face, denoting that your less than zero in my eyes). You ain’t spit!!! Oo oo Lord you aren’t spit. and for 7 days all 2 million people will know it.

7 days was a small penalty because it could have been 14 days at the least. 7 days is an honor for Miriam because God could have killed her Aaron on the spot. Ananias and Sapphire dropped dead for less. Miriam was talking up some noise and trying to take over and be a head of the preacher prophet teacher leader.

And so

15 And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again. watch this now Nobody in the congregation, 2 million people, nobody in the church the tabernacle the temple the sanctuary could go forward until Miriam’s problem was resolved. Lastly sometimes it’s one person in leadership that can be the cause stopping God’s Church and Congregation from moving forward. But we’ve got to Let God be God and each one of us have to play our role as God divinely commissioned commanded and compelled us to do.
