The Proclaiming of the Convictions
The Proclaiming of the Convictions
Daniel 1:8 “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.”
Daniel proclaimed his convictions in order for them to be applied to his life!
Often times in order for our convictions to mean anything and do anything for us we are going to need to go public with them.
We are going to look at 3 important things to note about Daniel proclaiming his convictions.
The Courtesy in the Proclaiming
The Courtesy in the Proclaiming
Daniel 1:8 “… he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.”
It was a request, not a demand.
Of course if his convictions were strong enough he wouldn’t have done it anyway.
nevertheless it was one of respect
Daniels courtesy here reminds us that we don’t have to be jerks or or arrogant about our convictions.
there is a way to gracefully go about proclaiming our convictions.
Though to be graceful in not to be cowardly
There is a way to be tender but not weak, compassionate but not compromising, gentle but not a coward!
**MANY PROFESSING CHRISTIANS TODAY HAVE TURNED SO MANY AWAY FROM COMING TO CHRIST BY BEING ARROGANT AND RUDE ABOUT THEIR CONVICTIONS**
The Courage in the Proclaiming
The Courage in the Proclaiming
Understand the situation
Daniel was in a very hostile environment
Daniel’s actions could have very quickly costed him his head!
Are you willing to go through those lengths to stand for you convictions?
If anyone tells you that Christianity is for the weak, it is a lie from the devil!
It takes more courage to stand up for whats right that to bow to the standards of society!!
Anyone can drink, smoke, gossip, lust, be jealous, covet.
Ask the person that says Christianity is for the weak to try standing up for truth, righteousness and morals and see how easy it is!
The Companions From the Proclaiming
The Companions From the Proclaiming
Daniel was the first to stand. but his stand encouraged the others to stand with him!!
Though Daniel encouraged these 3 men to stand, not all were enthused to do the same in chapter 3
It’s worth it even if one gets encouraged to take a stand! though you may not be able to reach the entire community the ones you do reach can reach others!!
You have a chance to either encourage others to stand for good or fall to evil.
Let us stand strong for holiness to encourage others to do likewise!
