Pick Up Your Pallet and Walk
Pick Up Your Pallet and Walk
Has Jesus been calling your name?
Have you been busted and disgusted?
Depression, addiction, chaos and confusion? Shame has come upon you. It’s almost as though you are in a deep pit and can’t get out.
You have been failing over and over again with no hope. You are so angry and hatred has come upon you. You’re disabled by fear.
I have a solution for you! Jesus Christ can set the captive free!
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners;
To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn,
To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
You can become a new creation, old will be gone, the new will come.
He will give you hope, purpose, and vision you never had before.
Rise. This is what the Lord does. He picks up fallen man.
When Jesus spoke the Word, “Rise,” the power of God went all through this man’s body, that had been helpless, now is improved with strength!
This is a good example of salvation experience.
You see my friend, we have no power within ourselves.
“I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet and go home.”
It’s time to find your way to Jesus!
This paralytic didn’t have a pride issue. We must be willing to get some help. He was lined up to get the power of God. So many of us think, “I am a grown man and I don’t want anyone to carry me.”
It’s time to be real, because that’s the only way to grow.
v. 4—We must be willing to go through the process. In order to experience the sanctifying work of Jesus, we must trust some folk.
They came for a foot issue and Jesus has come for the root issue.
We must address the sin in our lives.
John 9—sometimes it isn’t a sin issue, it is to go through fire to come out genuine and pure.
He needs you to move from the crowd.
Mark 2 v. 2—When Jesus preached, His kindness exhibited in the beauty of His voice, especially what He said. It must have been like rain on dry ground. It must have been a fragrance that came from a newly opened flower.
He preached the Word, but who He was made it alive (1 Thess. 1:5).
Mark 2 v. 3—Everything Jesus did was designed not only to help the person or persons in need, but also to serve as a lesson for all time. The lesson learned here is that this “palsy” is a type of sin, which deluged the individual, and help is needed, as here, to come to Christ.
There are few that actually came to Christ; but those who do, receive the help this man received so long ago.
The man was paralyzed.
“Which was borne afore,” means that these mem were not just doing a duty as servants; they expressly brought him to Jesus.
This is a perfect example of believers, showing care and concern, bringing one to Christ.
The paralyzed man represents the unsaved, on their own, cannot come to Christ. They must have help (these 4).
These are men who earnestly seek the Lord for the salvation of others, or even revival in particular places.
Mark 2 v. 4—Homes have flat roofs in that part of the world, usually with steps on the outside leading to the top. There were usually 1 or 2 trap doors in the roof.
The crowd was too much for them to enter the house, there was no way they could gain entrance.
Faith in Christ is never presented an easy path, but faith in Christ always finds a way.
For those who tend to not have faith, the “press of the crowd” (family, friends, acquaintances, social media, news, entertainment, etc.) will serve as an obstacle.
As the “press” hindered then, the “press” seeks to hinder now.
When they made the hole big enough, they lowered the man and he and his mat were dead weight.
Could you imagine how this would have interrupted the message Christ was speaking?
The message is for people, not people for the message.
Mark 2 v. 5—the wrecked physical condition of the sick man was due to sinful life; therefore Jesus first of all addresses the real cause, but with no condemnation, just forgiveness and healing.
Faith can be seen. This means the action of faith is never passive.
Faith in God never says anything is impossible, because with God, all things are possible.
The very essence of faith demands that, just because there are obstacles, faith is to be pushed through to its intentional purpose and successful conclusion.
