Read
Preaching Jesus Requires Conviction (25-32)
Define 2 Terms > 1. Preaching - “Preaching is the public exposition of Scripture by the man sent from God, in which God Himself is present in judgment and in grace.” John Calvin. 2. Conviction - “The act of convincing a person of error or of compelling the admission of a truth; a strong persuasion or belief.”
1 Cor 2:2!
V. 29 Key verse but what about Rom 13:1-2?
Convictions must be sound, must come from scripture!
2. Preaching Jesus Causes Opposition (33-40)
Even if the world is against you, God is for you! (Rom 8:31)
World “loves” and Hates Christ and His Message (John 15:18-19)
v. 39, do you fight against God?
Jesus’ words aren’t a pillow but a sword (Matt 10:34, Eph 6:17, Heb 4:12).
3. Preaching Jesus Prompts Joy (41-42)
Knowing God brings Joy (Lk 15:7,10)
Joy isn’t the absence of sin but the presence of God!
Being in the presence of God convicts us to faithfully preach/live God’s Word.
We preach for the Glory of God! The inherent beauty of God, the unbearable brightness and beauty of His being as He radiates His own attributes and characteristics for all to witness. Key Text =Romans 11:36 “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.”
Ending
Go fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19–20““Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to keep all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”” )
