INTRO/OPENING:
We will now be returning to series in the book of Revelation “Echos of the Apocalypse”
today is a review to get us back up to speed.
We covered the first 7 chapters before we started the “40 Days in the Word” Campaign
Next week we will start up in Ch. 8 (Opening 7th seal: kicks off 7 trumpet judgments)
TEXT:
TEXT:
1 This is a revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants the events that must soon take place. He sent an angel to present this revelation to his servant John,
2 who faithfully reported everything he saw. This is his report of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
3 God blesses the one who reads the words of this prophecy to the church, and he blesses all who listen to its message and obey what it says, for the time is near.

BODY (REVIEW):
Ch. 1
John / prisoner on Patmos has a vision (book of Revelation)
Vision of Jesus “I am the Alpha and the Omega” and, “What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia”
Ch. 2
Letters to the churches:
Ephesus: the Loveless Church.
You have forgotten your first love
repent and do the first works.
Smyrna: the persecuted church.
Nothing bad against Smyrna
Just be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
Pergamus: the compromising (sp. comprometedora) church.
has followers of Balaam’s (sp. Balán) doctrine = taught Balak (sp. Balac) to put a stumbling block (sp. tropiezo) before children of Israel (eat things sacrificed to idols, & sexual immorality).
Repent
Thyatira: the corrupt church.
You allow Jezebel: so called prophetess, seduces my servants to sexual immorality.
She won’t repent. So I will throw her on a bed of suffering (sp. lecho de dolor), and those who commit adultery with her will suffer greatly unless they repent and turn away from her evil deeds.
Ch. 3
Sardis: the dead church.
Appear alive, but you are dead.
Strengthen what little remains; go back to what you heard and believed at first; hold to it firmly.
Philadelphia: the faithful church.
you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.
Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown.
Leodicea: the Luke warm church.
neither cold nor hot
Be zealous and repent. (sp. sé fervoroso y arrepiéntete.)
Ch. 4
The Throne Room of Heaven
4 living creatures
Sing Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”
Ch. 5
The Lamb Takes the Scroll
No one able to open the scroll… John wept much.
The angels and the elders in heaven began to sing “And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals...”
Ch. 6
The 6 seals opened
Seal #1. The White Horse: Went out conqueing / antichrist
Seal #2. Red Horse: create war on the earth
Seal #3. Black Horse: scales in hand; famine (sp. hambruna) / food scarcity.
Seal #4. Pale/Green Horse: Death, and Hades kills 1/4 of the earth, with sword, hunger, death, and beasts of the earth.
How interesting that all those middle eastern flags have these 4 colors in them, huh?
Israel is one notable exception (Blue and white).
Seal #5. Cry of the Martyrs (Clamor):
“How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”
white robe was given to them; rest a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants ...who would be killed, was completed.
Seal #6. Cosmic Disturbances (sp. Perturbaciones cósmicas):
great earthquake; sun became black, moon became like blood, the stars of heaven fell to the earth.
sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place.
People hide in caves and mountains
Ch. 7
Pause in the opening of the seals in this chapter:
144, 000 Sealed (12k from each of the 12 tribes)
144k sealed
Worship breaks out in heaven / a great multitude dressed in white. (from every nation)
These are those that died during the tribulation / washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb made them white.
Remember we did this exercise?
1/2 the church was the tribulation martyrs singing
V. 10 “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
1/2 the church was all the angels, the elders, and 4 living creatures, and fell on their faces and worshiped God.
V. 12 “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen." (sp. “¡Amén! La alabanza, la gloria, la sabiduría, la acción de gracias,
la honra, el poder y la fortaleza son de nuestro Dios por los siglos de los siglos. Amén!"

Ch. 7 ends with a beautiful promise to the martyrs who died during the tribulation:
14 And I said to him, “Sir, you are the one who knows.” Then he said to me, “These are the ones who died in the great tribulation. They have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb and made them white.
15 “That is why they stand in front of God’s throne and serve him day and night in his Temple. And he who sits on the throne will give them shelter.
16 They will never again be hungry or thirsty; they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun.
17 For the Lamb on the throne will be their Shepherd. He will lead them to springs of life-giving water. And God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”
Next week we pick up at chapter 8 (Opening the 7th seal; which starts the 7 trumpet judgements)
