RECAP OF LAST WEEK:
-God’s people enslaved under harsh bondage in Egypt
-Acts 7:20–29
At this time Moses was born; and he was beautiful in God’s sight. And he was brought up for three months in his father’s house, and when he was exposed, Pharaoh’s daughter adopted him and brought him up as her own son. And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was mighty in his words and deeds.
“When he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brothers, the children of Israel. And seeing one of them being wronged, he defended the oppressed man and avenged him by striking down the Egyptian. He supposed that his brothers would understand that God was giving them salvation by his hand, but they did not understand. And on the following day he appeared to them as they were quarreling and tried to reconcile them, saying, ‘Men, you are brothers. Why do you wrong each other?’ But the man who was wronging his neighbor thrust him aside, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge over us? Do you want to kill me as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?’ At this retort Moses fled and became an exile in the land of Midian, where he became the father of two sons.
So Moses, the one called to bring God’s people out of bondage, is now in Midian
He was on the run
Rejected by the very people he was put on this earth to deliver…
He is Exiled in a place in the backside of the desert…
He gets a wife there…
Has some kids…
He is settled…
Settled in a place that he doesn't belong…
We felt a tension last week…
THis isnt how its supposed to go…
The one called to deliver the people …is exiled away from the people..
And God’s people still in suffering and bondage…
But…We ended our time last week though with hope…
Exodus 2:23-25.
God says I HEAR YOUR CRIES FOR HELP…
I SEE YOUR SUFFERING…
I KNOW YOUR SUFFERING…
I REMEMBER MY PROMISE I MADE TO YOU…
As we today look at this situation…
Getting our eyes to the text…
Even We can see the problem…
The Exodus Problem: God’s children under slavery of Pharoah
The only answer to this problem is a SAVIOR…
They are sitting in a long season of suffering crying out to the Lord…
Where are you? HELP US! WE ARE SUFFERING!
SAVE US!!!
God’s response is this
I HEAR YOU…
I SEE YOU…
I KNOW YOUR SUFFERING…
And as we said last week Church…
When God knows…
HE ACTS…
We are going to see the LORD act in 3 ways this morning…
We are going to see the LORD act in 3 ways this morning…
GODS ARRIVAL
GODS NAME AND AUTHORITY
GODS VICTORY
Lets get into the word this morning Church
Exodus chapter 3 starting in verse 1...
READ EXODUS 3:1-9.
GODS ARRIVAL (v1-9)
GODS ARRIVAL (v1-9)
Moses keeping his father inlaws flock
The man who is supposed to lead God’s people out of Egypt…
A shepherd of a flock that doesn't belong to him…
In the backside of the desert…
See’s a burning bush that is not consumed…
I will turn aside…Moses turns away from what he is currently doing and approached the bush
There God calls to him…Moses…Moses
God says I have seen…I have hear…I know the sufferings of my people
V8 “and I have come down to deliver them”
When God see, hears, and knows church…HE MOVES
He comes down to Deliver!!!
SO here is Moses…standing on holy ground…standing in front of the Lord…who is in the midst of a burning bush that is never consumed….
God is unveiling His will to Moses…
Moses has a role in this…
God is going to use Moses in a big way
READ V10
He says “Come now, I will send you to Pharoah that you may bring my people out of Egypt”
But Look at Moses response here “READ V11-12”
Who am I?
Remember Exodus 2?
Moses tries to protect the Hebrew slave from being beaten by the Egyptian…
Moses Kills the Egyptian…
And Pharoah sought to kill Moses…
So…He says…Who am I to got to Pharoah????
God says I will be with you!!!
I will be with you….
I will protect you…
And as proof of that…
Not if…BUT WHEN you bring my people from Egypt you will serve me on this very mountain…
But Moses is still unsettled…
He also remembers that when he tried to rescue that Hebrew slave from his oppressor, the hebrews rejected him…
They said “who made you prince over us?”
Who made you the head of us?..
READ V13
Moses ask God “Whose authority do I come on?”
The last time I was questioned…
Under whose authority do I have to speak???
GODS NAME AND AUTHORITY (V10-18)
GODS NAME AND AUTHORITY (V10-18)
READ V14-18
God says tell them I AM has sent you!!!!
I AM THAT I AM= Jehovah is transliteration and in english is translated I AM (sometimes referred to as YHWH)
Jehovah is what the Jews called the proper name for God…
Jehovah…I AM
This word means I ALWAYS HAVE BEEN…I AM NOW…AND I ALWAYS WILL BE
I AM EVERYTHING…I AM ALL THINGS…I AM
SO when Moses asks…who do I tell them sent me???
On whose authority am I hear on???
GOD SAYS TELL THEM THE GOD I AM SENT YOU!!!
The God of your fathers…the God of all things…
And He says I AM has seen, heard, and knows…
An I will bring you out of Egypt…
When Moses acted before…He had no authority…
Now he has I AM authority…
When you tell them that I AM sent you…
“they will listen to you”
And you will Go to Pharoah and ask for the release of God’s people…
Lets pick back up here and see what God says will happen…
READ V19-22
GODS VICTORY (V19-22)
GODS VICTORY (V19-22)
Pharoah wont let you go…
UNLESS he is compelled by a mighty hand…
SO I WILL stretch out my hand…
Notice the personal pronouns here…
I WILL…THE GREAT I AM WILL...
I will stretch out my hand…
I WILL STRIKE EGYPT…
And after I do…Pharoah will let you go…
Not only that you will be blessed as you leave…
SO HERE IS WHAT WE HAVE SEEN IN THE TEXT TODAY...
The Exodus Problem: God’s children are suffering under slavery in Egypt…
God hears there cries…He sees…He knows their suffering…
So…
GOD ARRIVES (He comes down to deliver)
he calls Moses and He says Im going to use you to bring my people out of Egypt…
A fugitive on the run for murder…A shepherd who doesnt even own the flock that he shepherds…
And when you go the the great nation of Israel tell them my name…
AND MY NAME IS I AM…all authority is mine I AM all things…I created all things
I WAS…I AM…AND IS TO COME…
AND I WILL BE VICTORIOUS OVER PHAROAH…
I WILL DELIVER MY PEOPLE…
AND YOU WILL SERVE ME IN A SHORT WHILE ON THIS VERY MOUNTAIN….

Matthew 1:18–25 “Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.”
At Jesus’s birth people celebrated and worshipped…

John 18:4–6 “Then Jesus, knowing all that would happen to him, came forward and said to them, “Whom do you seek?” They answered him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am he.” Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them. When Jesus said to them, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.”
Revelation 1:8 Jesus says….““I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.””
Revelation 1:8 Jesus says….““I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.””
His name is JESUS
Jesus’s name in HEBREW is JEHOSHUA (yeshouah)
Made up of 2 words (JE and HOSHUA)
together they mean JEHOVAH IS SALVATION
We already esblished that JEHOVAH means I AM
SO the meaning of the the name of Jesus is this I AM SALVATION!!!!
And the word of God tells us …
Jesus has VICTORY OVER SIN AND DEATH!!!
Jesus has VICTORY OVER SIN AND DEATH!!!
John 19:28–30 “After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), “I thirst.” A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth. When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”
THEN IN…
Luke 24:1–7 “But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.””
DEATH WHERE IS YOUR STING!!!!

HE IS THE GOD WHO DELIVERS…
John 3:16–17 ““For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
We are going to take some time to remember that today as we round out our time church.
COMMUNION:
COMMUNION:
Now, Communion is a time for those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone.
If you have not trusted Jesus with your eternal salvation, I ask that you not partake, but instead take this time to reflect on the truth that Jesus died for your sins on the cross, and through His resurrection you can live eternally with Him!
SO, TAKE THIS TIME IN SILENCE …
CONTINUING IN PRAY AND WORSHIP AND REMEMBER THE LOVE JESUS SHOWED US ON THE CROSS AND WE WILL TAKE THE BREAD AND THE CUP TOGETHER…
