Colossians 4:2–4 “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.”
Introduction:
A. Prayer is not a luxury prayer is a necessity.
B. Prayer is essential for discipleship.
I. Powerful prayer life is a devoted prayer life.

A.Luke 18:1 “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;”
B.Romans 12:12 “Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;”
C.1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”
D. Ephesians 6:18 “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

C. Philippians 4:6 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

ii) 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
B. Dedicated to the needs of others
I. Colossians 1:3 “We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,”
C. Dedicated to the Gospel.
i) Colossians 1:26–27 “Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:”
IV. Conclusion.
