19 This is the genealogy of Isaac, Abraham’s son. Abraham begot Isaac. 20 Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian. 21 Now Isaac pleaded with the Lord for his wife, because she was barren; and the Lord granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived. 22 But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If all is well, why am I like this?” So she went to inquire of the Lord. 23 And the Lord said to her: “Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger.” 24 So when her days were fulfilled for her to give birth, indeed there were twins in her womb. 25 And the first came out red. He was like a hairy garment all over; so they called his name Esau. 26 Afterward his brother came out, and his hand took hold of Esau’s heel; so his name was called Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them. 27 So the boys grew. And Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field; but Jacob was a mild man, dwelling in tents. 28 And Isaac loved Esau because he ate of his game, but Rebekah loved Jacob. 29 Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary. 30 And Esau said to Jacob, “Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.” Therefore his name was called Edom. 31 But Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright as of this day.” 32 And Esau said, “Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?” 33 Then Jacob said, “Swear to me as of this day.” So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. 34 And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.
Introduction:
We are Jacob and Esau as an analogy tonight.
The Lord is using this Church right now!
when we say the Lord is the Church we mean the Lord is using the people. all the people, not Just the pastor. Of course as the pastor I want the Lord to use me! I am a failure if He uses me and I don’t men and women to be used by God.
1. God has called church on the Rock, Abilene to be salt and light.
1. God has called church on the Rock, Abilene to be salt and light.
13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven.
notice how many times it says your works in the verse above.
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Again He (Jesus) Prepared works for to walk in.
10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
There is a reason for every season.
There is a reason for every season.
As we walk according to God’s will and work the works He gave us to do, we “put to death the deeds of the flesh.”
As we walk according to God’s will and work the works He gave us to do, we “put to death the deeds of the flesh.”
Remember Illumination not condemnation.
Remember Illumination not condemnation.
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,

2. We (the church) are grafted in, we get all the blessings that God promised Israel.

29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
We get the promises of The Old Testament.
17 And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree,
11 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands—
The blessing of Abraham is about establishing a nation.
The blessing of Abraham for the Church are to do the work.
We are blessed to be a blessing!
We are blessed to be a blessing!
28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.
10 The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.
32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Where there is a vision from the Lord He will give provision!
Where there is a vision from the Lord He will give provision!
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
25 I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread.
If our Church is going to walk in the provision that the Lord has for us we are going to have to fallow His Principles.
If our Church is going to walk in the provision that the Lord has for us we are going to have to fallow His Principles.
6 Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches. 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: 2 On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.

What the enemy does is that he intimidates believers in many ways.
one of the ways in which he does that is tell you that it is to late.
29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
