School
How many of you are happy that you’re back in school?
Going back to school can be a frustrating thing, you’ve just spent the whole Summer with no schedule, no bedtime, and now you’re back into a routine. Routines are things that are difficult to get into but they have long term benefits. School is something that is there for you to benefit from. School is there so that you can learn and grow. You get out of school what you put in to school.
Youth
Youth
Much like school what we do here at church is very similar. The youth group, the worship, the lessons, the small groups are here for you to learn and grow in your relationship with Christ. And much like school, you get out of this what you put in to this.
How many of you have ever studied for a C and then prayed for an A?
Studying for a C and then praying for an A is the same as not showing up to church, not getting involved, not building relationships and then complaining and saying “well I just don’t get anything from church”.
For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
This verse is not just talking about scripture but what we do with scripture. This verse represents why we do what we do. Yes we get together and we play games, and we goof off, but at the root, we are a group of people coming together to study Gods word and foster a relationship with him.
FCC Student Ministries only goal is to lead you guys into a life-long relationship with Jesus and teach you how to foster that relationship.
To foster a relationship means to keep it going, to keep the relationship strong.
So I’ll end with this piece of scripture.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,
What this means is that no matter what you’re doing whether you believe it to be a big thing or a small thing, work hard and be dedicated to that thing. So I encourage you guys as we start this next school year be here intentionally. Be here every Wednesday night ready to play games and do silly things, but bring your Bible, if you don’t have a Bible tell me and I’ll give you a Bible, bring a friend, open up when we get in small groups, be intentional about being here. Because at the end of the day you’re going to get out of it what you put into it. And the same is true in every aspect of life going forward. Work, relationships, projects, hardships, And I’d encourage you to keep Colossians 3:23 in mind as you venture into all of these things.
