Your Identity

Is not based on your actions
e.g Marriage and do to get my name
So if it’s base on our actions what is it based on ?
- To be able to understand your identity as a follower of Christ, you need to understand how He sees you
- Your true identity is based on what God has done for you.not you for him
- Let’s take a look at what He says about your identity to understand that we need to come back to the
Question if it’s base on our actions what is it based on ?
your Identity is based on what we do with Jesus when we do accept him you gain your new identity and Jesus says to you
5 things about this new identity
- 1 You Are Loved
That’s the number one 1 John 4:17-19 Love has been perfected among us
- you are loved. You were created with a purpose.Just read Psalm 139
Can you imagine the love involved with that intricate design?
1 John 4:17–19 (NKJV)
Love has been perfected among us [union and communion with God’s] love is brought to completion
Jewish Bible: brought to maturity
- 2 You Are Chosen
- Not only loved but chosen.
- Die in your place so that you could be included in His family.
- You are no mistake. You are chosen and wanted.
Ephesians 1:4 (NKJV)
just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
D. L. Moody made a statement
he said, “I’m so glad God chose me before I was born, because I don’t think He would have chosen me after I’ve lived!”
- : I agree with that
- 2) You Are Forgiven - In order to be counted a child of the perfect Father, you had to be free of sin
- Because Jesus, who was without sin, died the death you should have on the cross, you can be forgiven of sin.
- What you’ve done wrong is not counted against you, and all that Christ did right is counted for you.
- This forgiveness allows you to be considered a child of God.
Therefore, in God’s eyes, if you have accepted what Jesus did for you, you are completely forgiven.
- From His perspective, you are without sin. It’s not that you won’t sin, but when He looks at you, He calls you forgiven. That is something on which you can build your identity.
Psalm 32:1 (NKJV)
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered.
John 1:29 Takes it away
(you should be still in) Ephesians 1: Look at (V.7)
Ephesians 1:7 (NKJV)
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
and Ephesians 1:7 leads us into the 4th thing of our identity Redeemed - The root root for Redeemed Means RANSOM
Greek means - to release or set free, buy back, rescue from harm
- analogy to the process of freeing a slave
If That wasn't enough it lead us to the last Point in (V.5)
Loved
Chosen
Forgiven
Redeemed
(get them to repeat it with i am )
You Are Adopted
- But to get this new Identity we must do just one thing
And
John 1:12 tells us what
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
did you check it believe.
