I. There Were Great Joy Over Jesus Birth

A. Multitude of Heavenly Host Announced That They Begot Good Tidings of Great Joy, Because of Jesus’ Birth

Luke 2:10–15 “10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, Good will toward men. 15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Beth-lehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.”

B. The Wise Men Had Exceeding Joy When They Saw the Star That Led Them to the Baby Jesus

1 John 1:3–5 “3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”

IV. We Will Have Great Joy at Jesus Return

A. The Ransomed of the Lord Will Rejoice at His Coming

Isaiah 35:10 “10 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, And come to Zion with songs And everlasting joy upon their heads: They shall obtain joy and gladness, And sorrow and sighing shall flee away.”

B. In the End, the Lord Will Rest, and the Priests Will Be Cloth in Righteousness and the Saints Will Shout for Joy

Psalm 132:8–9 “8 Arise, O Lord, into thy rest; Thou, and the ark of thy strength. 9 Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; And let thy saints shout for joy.”
