High Power

1 Peter 2:17 KJV 1900
17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
There’s a high power above us all. There’s more than this world to explore. God has created more than what we can see with our own eyes. God’s story is not finished yet. God’s story for those who don’t have salvation is about to end, eternally. Those who do, realistically, your journey with Christ is brand new. A subject that we all have to learn and work ourselves into a new life, the way and works of Jesus. Sanctification is what we call it.
Sanctification - Sanctification is the ongoing supernatural work of God to rescue justified sinners from the disease of sin and to conform them to the image of his Son: holy, Christlike, and empowered to do good works.
Working with others to Sanctify ourselves only works when all parties are fulfilling their call respectfully. Meaning sanctification happens when God tells you it’s happening. When God leads you to be sanctified. Not when you’re stilling choosing violence rather than kindness, drugs rather than soberness, hate instead of love. God needs you to get it in a line before he shuffles you around more to make you a perfect fit. You’re made perfect, but you’ve twisted yourself around into a knot. Have you ever put a pair of earbuds in your pocket and then 20-30 minutes later you take them out, not realizing that they’ve been entangling themselves and it takes you an hour longer just to untangle them. You tangled yourself up, God has to untangle you before he can use you to your greatest ability, the true calling he called you for.
John 17:17 KJV 1900
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Paul is writing to Peter, those who are young in their faith, be patient, God is working. After putting in your heart, trust and faith to Jesus, let it known that you belong to him. Not JUST by telling people. Show people. Your life will change because the Holy Spirit talks to you, telling you things that you probably shouldn’t be doing. A visual change can and will happen. The start of chapter 2 says to lay “aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:” 1 Peter 2:1-2
1 Peter 2:1–2 KJV 1900
1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, 2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
Sanctification doesn’t just happen by God. You’ve got to put in the effort to. You’ve got to repent of all your old ways to make yourself new again. You’ve got to be the one that says “I want this.” Not God telling you “Do this.”
Breaking it down (1 Peter 2:17)
Honour all men.
We could use the word Esteem here in place of Honour. Esteem means to respect and/or give admiration to.
Notice how this part of the verse tells us to Honour ALL men. Not just those in this Church. Not just those who say they are saved. ALL men means Jerry down the street that flipped you a bird on the road when you may or may not have been driving too close behind him. Don’t ask me why that’s my example.
Respect each other. Respect each other and what they do. Respect the way that they may have to live their lives because that’s a situation that they or God is or has put them in. They’re human. I’m human. God is the only God.
Give admiration to ALL men. We see the word all here again, we’re still talking about the first sentence in the verse. ALL men, means ALL men. Admiration for everyone, why? Because they’re still here. Why? Because there’s a God who wakes them up every morning. Why? Because there’s a powerful force in the sky, waiting to strike the Earth with love and take his Children home, that powerful force is Jesus, he’s ready for us, but are we ready for him?

Love the brotherhood.
Love is a strong word, I don’t like using it when I’m talking about Jesus or my family. Love can be all mushy gushy and make you feel good. Love can also be real, as in hard love. Love can mean hurting someones feelings because God is going to do something in their lives once you hurt them.
God gives us friends, some we have here at Church, that we can all bond with over the Savior and the amazing God that we serve. Some of our friends go to other Churches that we can do the same with. But we all have a few friends that we just cannot get through the message. Is it your job to get the message through them? Or is it your job to give it to them. Put it in their hands and let God say “eat it.” Love can be hard for some.
Love the brotherhood. The brotherhood is what makes us easily approachable. If some of you weren’t so easily approachable, you may not be here today, because that person that introduced you to Christ, that person that gave you a message was able to approach you and feel comfortable. If you think you can’t be approached by someone, maybe you need to look at some things. Love the ability to have a brotherhood that you can go to, to share messages and ask questions about your faith to. Love every second of it.
Examples to Give:
Jeff
My Dad
Fear God.
Did you know we serve a God of everything? There are people who still believe in a God of thunder, God of sea, God of water, God of whatever you may think of. But there’s only one true God. A God so powerful he made everything, plus some, that we can see with our own eyes.
A God so powerful he made each star, not just for a beautiful night sky, but for a way of travel and a way of telling time. A God so powerful that every element on the periodic table is crafted to be able and make everything that we see here.
JOKE: We’re all made from Atoms (Atoms and Adam)
A God so powerful that death itself, the end as human knowledge can comprehend was conquered. We don’t know for sure what is on the other side, because we can’t see it, right? Some believe it’s nothing, some believe it’s peace forever, I believe it’s Heaven or Hell. One of the two, we don’t get both, and there’s one that has one way in, and the other has 50 billion ways in. I’m going in by that one way. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s Jesus. Jesus paved a way to the Holiest of Holy places called Heaven. All will be sanctified and live with God eternally.
God can be scary to the human eyes. A flood that killed all but one family. A man who states the way in is by him and him alone. Maybe it’s even giving evil ability to make a man lose everything he owns while still being faithful. God can be, to the human eyes, scary. But through all of that, God does it all out of love. Without a flood, the world is evil and no fresh start can occur. Without a man stating to be the Son of God, Jesus, there is no way into Heaven. Without a faith journey, there’s no way to see just how far with God you truly are willing to go. Fear God.
Examples to Give:
Immidiately after sinning, who think to say forgive me God. Or even before win sin.
Honour the King.
I serve a King. I serve an almighty God. I know a Ghost that brings the spirit of life, and the spirit of grace into all souls to deliver them from evil. It’s the chose of all people to accept or reject the word. The word, the living word of the King.
King who’s name is Jesus, reigns forever in the Church, forever in our Hearts, and forever in God’s creation. Jesus, a man who died for me and for you so that we can have not only eternal life with him in paradise, but eternal peace. His amazing love for us poured out on the cross. Why is that amazing? His blood poured out of him! He lives today! Me and you, require blood, require DNA, require a liquid to run through our body for us to function. Our living God, requires nothing to live. The most high power, the power that can and will overcome ALL obstacles, including a Tater Tot that get’s stuck in your throat. That includes a Truck that won’t drive since May. That includes a small argument that makes you made and almost leave a Church. He overcomes ALL obstacles. He makes a greater path towards victory. Honour the King who provides these things.
1 Peter 2:17 KJV 1900
17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
Are you being Sanctified? Are you capable of forgiving your enemies? Are you capable of loving those who are lost? Maybe those who have done you wrong? What about fearing God, rather than treating him like a doctor, someone you only see when your sick. God can cure the sick, don’t get me wrong, but God needs that spiritual uplifting from us, the praise, so that his deeds are worth doing so that his Kingdom will grow to save more souls. Are you capable of pouring your life out for Christ like he did for us? He’s waiting at the door for you to start it. Are you still believing in a man who’s name is Jesus, or are you just passing by with small portions of scripture. Are you only passing by with the ‘Verse of the Day” that pops up on your phone at 7 in the morning.
God not only deserves that much more from us, but he requires that from us. Honour the King.
