Introduction

Focus: This text teaches us that Jesus’ cognizance of his role in and for the world creates powerful avenues of redemption.
Function: As we strive to advance the kingdom of God, we should look to Jesus, receive the anointing of the Father, and yield to the guidance of the Holy Spirit so that we too can understand our responsibility in God’s work of redemption.
Big Idea: The gospel of the Kingdom of God gives believers clarity for their role in the advancement of the world through a centered view of Jesus Christ.
God’s agenda for the world is made clear in the person and work of Jesus Christ!
Jesus is referencing Isaiah 61:1
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me”
He has anointed me
Pastor McKissic refers to “anointing” as a specific touch for a specific task
To preach good news to the poor
