Jesus Christ is the ConnerStone

Psalm 127:1 ESV
Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
Everything we do at this Church matters because it is Christ who is building this House
And everything we do at this church is build on Christ

Our Lives and the Church Built on Christ

Acts 1:1–2 ESV
In the first book, O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach, until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.
The ministry we do is the ministry that Jesus started.
The book of Acts reveals the transfer of Christ’s authority and mission to His disciples-
You are a disciple
John 8:31–32 ESV
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Disciples follow their teacher-
Abide in my work- Stay in the Word

Baptism in the Spirit

Acts 1:4–5 ESV
And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
The Promise is the Holy Spirit
John preached and baptised repentance- The forgiveness of sins
Water Baptism: is a symbol of the washing away of sins,
being buried with Christ, and rising to New Life
Spirit Baptism in the Baptism of Fire
Where water cleanses, fire purifies
Galatians 5:16–26 ESV
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Fire Purifies our life and removes the blemishes
Ezekiel 36:25–27 ESV
I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.
This was the promise of God- You will walk in my statues because I will put my Spirit inside of You!
God works in your life so He can work through your life- tThis is the spirit at work in your Life
You can live a Holy Life because of the Spirit inside of you!
You can do the things of God because of the that Same Spirit that works through you!
Yield to the Spirit-
The still small voice that is the spirit speaking in you
the unction that comes from with in and leads you
AS God is building you He is building His Church

The Holy Spirit is the agent

Acts 1:8 ESV
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Jesus is the primary example of the work of the Holy Spirit within and upon-
Upon is the mantle of the ministry
Elisha caught the mantle of the ministry and then the Spirit rest on Him
Jesus has passed the mantle to His followers
Without the Holy Spirit the work is impossible
Matthew 19:26 ESV
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
RECEIVE POWER-
The Holy Spirit is the person and the power by which assistance and ability are given for serving, for sharing the life and power of God’s kingdom with Other
The Holy Spirit must be recieved
it is not just automatic experience
As surely as the Spirit dwells in each believers Rom 8:9
Romans 8:9 ESV
You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
so surely will He fill and overflow each person who receives the holy Spirit with Childlike faith
John 7:37–39 ESV
On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ ” Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
And the Power of the Holy Spirit makes the things that are impossible for us not impossible
Philippians 4:13 ESV
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
When you are filled with the Spirit you will know it-
God equips us for the Work He has called us to Do
The Holy Spirit is the Active agent- and Faith is the Key!

Jesus give us Authority

Acts 1:8 ESV
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
The Holy Spirit is the means through which Jesus continues to Work through Us!
Matthew 10:1 ESV
And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.
The great commission was to make Disciples
Matthew 28:18–19 ESV
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
John 20:21–22 ESV
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

What Does it Take?

Everything is a matter of Faith
the opposition to Faith is fear and the Flesh
Faith Takes God at his word
the flesh causes fear
Fear causes Doubt
Walk by the Spirit- This is what is all relies on
