1 So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
5 Therefore, put to death what belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry.
6 Because of these, God’s wrath is coming upon the disobedient,
7 and you once walked in these things when you were living in them.
8 But now, put away all the following: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth.
9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old self with its practices
10 and have put on the new self. You are being renewed in knowledge according to the image of your Creator.
11 In Christ there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all.
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,
13 bearing with one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you are also to forgive.
14 Above all, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.
15 And let the peace of Christ, to which you were also called in one body, rule your hearts. And be thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
17 And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
18 Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives and don’t be bitter toward them.
20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
21 Fathers, do not exasperate your children, so that they won’t become discouraged.
22 Slaves, obey your human masters in everything. Don’t work only while being watched, as people-pleasers, but work wholeheartedly, fearing the Lord.
23 Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people,
24 knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ.
25 For the wrongdoer will be paid back for whatever wrong he has done, and there is no favoritism.
So if you have been raised with christ, seek the things above where christ is seated at the right hand of god, set your mind on things above, not on earthly things.
As we break down this scripture, I want to also bring
Roman 12 2
2 Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
along with these first 2 verses. In Colossians, 3 that says Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
Everything that we do as a human being begins in our mind, actions originate in the thanking. There is a large assumption. We can just break our bad habits, but we had to begin to pry loose in our mind if there is no change to how you think. There will be no change in how you live. This is why scripture calls For the renewing of your mind in romans, and that's why I added diverse with romans in with this. Paul wants us to understand that our minds will determine our well-being the only source for a victorious. New mind is where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Therefore, we are to set our minds on things above not on earthly things. We have to be tuned in to the heavenly. Broadcasting network to receive the data needed for our daily lives. The problem is that too many of us frequently change the channel to faulty programming, some embrace unbiblical data From the world and then wonder why our lives are a wreck. All through the Bible, it tells us that we have to be feeding on the Lord. Prior to salvation, the enemy is building strongholds. In our minds, and in our lives, and then when the Holy Spirit comes to live inside of us. And we begin to read the word and it begins to transform us it begins, breaking down all of the barriers, the enemy has put there and think about this, if you spin 2 hours a week on Sunday in church and then you spend 1 hour a day.
Studying the word I'm praying. That's 8 hours a week that you are intentionally spending with the Lord. Now think about that that. There's a 168 hours in a week. If you sleep an average 8 hours a night, that's 56 hours a week that you're sleeping and then subtract the 8 hours a week that you intentionally spend with the Lord in studying the word in prayer, and what we see is that There's a 100 and 4 hours that the world has to shape our mind, not even counting all of the time, that the enemy spent shaping our mind prior to surrendering to the Lord. So now can you just get a little bit of a glimpse of how important it is for us to spend time with the Lord studying the word and doing what he's called us to do, and spending time together in fellowship and Prayer in worship, because our God is so powerful, that he can take a 10th of the time and completely renew our mind like the Bible tells us. But church, if we don't even give him an hour a day, how in the world is our mind gonna be transformed? How are we gonna be tuned in?To the heavenly broadcasting Network? Will never become spiritual. Aka will never walk in the identity. Guide paid for us to walk in by using the world's methodology.
20 If you died with Christ to the elements of this world, why do you live as if you still belonged to the world? Why do you submit to regulations:
Colossians, chapter 2 verse 20 says if you died with Christ to the elements of this world. Why do you live as if you still belong to the world? See, as Christians, we've been given a victory through Christ and we have to live in that victory. That is our very identity, victorious. Living requires a shift of focus. It requires a renewing of the mind. Victoria's living requires us to understand what Christ paid for on that cross. Victoria's living requires us to spend time with the Lord undoing. What the enemy has done, and Believing in understanding that victory is for today. We must have a heavenly mindset for earthly action. Paul is not saying Think about heaven all day. So you'll know how to live when you get there. Rather, he says, in essence, take a look at heaven's perspective on every issue, so you will know how to live on earth. We need a Kingdom mentality if we expect to receive heavenly benefits we've got to be Kingdom minded. Our life has to be about the Kingdom of God. Our purpose has to be about the Kingdom of God and the only way for us to truly walk with a heavenly. Boldness and a heavenly mentality is to have the Kingdom of God living within us and to understand that our identity is in Christ and Christ won the victory church victory is for today.! Romans 8:37
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
¶
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
: No matter what our circumstances, none of the sufferings of this present time can separate us from the love of God. This makes us conquerors and more.
How is the Christian more than a conqueror?
• He overcomes with a greater power, the power of Jesus.
• He overcomes with a greater motive, the glory of Jesus.
• He overcomes with a greater victory, losing nothing even in the battle.
• He overcomes with a greater love, conquering enemies with love and converting persecutors with patience.
So you see, we are victorious, we are conquers. We are gods children n that is our identity, but our identity, we'll begin and end in what we think and what we believe. And the only way for us to know that we're victors, to know that where more than conquers is for us to believe that Christ died on the cross. Because of loving us and because of this love, he wants to renew our mind of renewing our mind is the only way for us to live in the victory that Christ has paid for us to live in. And when we know and believe this, we will then walk out the identity that christ paid for us to walk out!!
3:3-4 For you died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When christ who is your life appears? Then you also will appear with him in glory.
To help the Colossians develop a new mentality, Paul reminds them of their new identity. He says, first you died, your old life has no more power over you. Secondly, he says your life is hidden with Christ. In God, in fact, Christ is not merely to be in your life. He is to be the total sum of your life. That's so important, because in order for us to put the time in needed for our minds to be renewed, like he's talking about, in the first 2 verses, Christ literally has to be our life, not a part of our life, not the happiest thing in our life, but he is to literally be our life and when we begin to understand that We will begin to walk in the identity that he's paid for us to walk in. But until then, we'll go on saying I'm a Christian, I'm saved because I said a prayer, and I'm going to heaven when this Bible teaches that if you believe then you're not just saying a simple prayer just to go to heaven. You're laying your life on the altar, and you're giving it to Jesus, and you're allowing him to call the shots, and you're allowing him to renew your mind and you're hungry, and you're thirsty for more of this renewing. And all you want, it's Jesus. All you need is Jesus. All you want others To understand is how great Jesus is, how amazing his love is and how much they need him in their lives also.
Because Jesus is our life Christ is not merely to be in your life. He used to be the total sum of your life. He is everything Christ. Is everything we have been raised with Christ and seated with him? If Christ is your new identity, that is, if you're truly a Christian and heaven is your new location, you're physically on earth but participating in the spiritual realm. Then you're called to live from that new perspective. Decisions are to be informed by an eternal heavenly perspective, rather than a imperfect earthly one. We need a Christian view of the world, a Kingdom world view.! When you have a Kingdom worldview, you'll have a whole new identity, because like, you've heard me say so many times you'll be looking through the lens of Jesus and that will help you to have that aerial view that view that shows you more well shows you more of what more of what somebody's going through than just A Simple, hello, you see in their eyes that they're hurting and the Holy Spirit Leads you to love on them and that love is not your love. That's gods love working through you. And that sight of seeing the hurt in their eyes is not because you're just so perceptive, it's because the Holy Spirit in you is working through you. Because your life is Jesus and Jesus is your life. And when Jesus is your life loving others, it's one of the best things you do everywhere that you go.
