2 Corinthians 5:16–21 (NASB 2020)
Therefore from now on we recognize no one by the flesh; even though we have known Christ by the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their wrongdoings against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

The Concerns With My Past

Its my past: Regardless of the outcome whether good or bad
It tells of moments in my yesterday
It tells of others involved
It tells of what I wished never happened
It tells of what was done to me
When you’ve gone through too many scars it also makes it hard for you to accept blessings from God because you become guarded. (It not being able to take people pouring into you)

The Conflict With My Past

I can’t erase it
I can’t change it
It can become an idol: Behaviors/Events/Self-Worship moments (Living for the old days)
It can bookmark us in time
It can become a deceiving lie to enslave us to an Identity and Behaviors
1 Peter 4:1–3 (NASB 2020)
1 Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human lusts, but for the will of God. 3 For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of indecent behavior, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties, and wanton idolatries.
Romans 6:1–2 (NASB 2020)
1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? 2 Far from it! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?
Romans 6:14 (NASB 2020)
14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under the Law but under grace.
Some past experiences require additional Biblical counseling/Coaching and therapy to help us move forward from our past
The physical and Emotional scars have greatly impacted our spiritual footprint

The Cycles Of My Past

Any unlearned lessons can create repeat test
We’ve grown to accept our demons, lies, and deceptions as normal. (So, they won’t leave until renounced, repented and rebuked)
We can have a loyalty to sins of our past that we keep around as pacifiers
Romans 6:6 NASB 2020
6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;
Colossians 3:9–11 NASB 2020
9 Do not lie to one another, since you stripped off the old self with its evil practices, 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created it—11 a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, and free, but Christ is all, and in all.
Behaviors of unbelief that God can’t deliver me from this problem; though we declare Him as omnipotent
We refuse to allow our wounds to heal a return to our problems and two-legged problems
Proverbs 26:10-12
The great God who formed everything Gives the fool his hire and the transgressor his wages. As a dog returns to his own vomit, So a fool repeats his folly. Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
We can become arrogant and prideful in our successes or victories diverting the glory from God to ourselves
We try to duplicates yesterday deliverance, today.

The Cries From My Past

Guarded with our emotions in unhealthy manners
Self Isolation
Unhealthy expressions came surface
Tears, grief, mourning, excessive pride, arrogance
Vulgar expressions and outburst

The Certainty Of My Past

Christ isn’t here on earth, but we have the Holy Spirit…
Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is
A New Creation….(Brand NEW Being/Identity) My past isn’t the Issue, its all about the future) Why?
Old Things: My Past Failures, Pride, Sins, Hang-Ups, Hardships, Heart Aches, shame
Look “Behold” Pay Attention…All Things have become NEW
Why?
All things are of God who reconciled us to Himself:
What?
And given us the ministry of reconciliation (Redemptive work of God through Christ…vs 19 cont)
Not Imputing their trespasses to them (Your Past Nature, Your Past Identity is not how God views you in Christ Jesus)
Romans 5:1 NASB 2020
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
The word of reconciliation is one thing we do because we God has erase my past. I can’t keep it to myself. I’m not the old person I used to be. My Old identity doesn’t define who I am.
And if you don’t know who you are Paul says…YOUR NEW IDENTITY IS
We are ambassadors For Christ
An accredited diplomat sent by a country as its official representative to a foreign country
As though God were making an appeal through us under my new identity for HIS purpose
So, our job is to plead for men to come to Jesus
So you can have a relationship with the one who created you and have a right to the tree of life
So you can experience peace with God through faith and not suffer eternal damnation for not receiving your new identity in Christ
Because I’m not who I used to be…Jesus changed my life. My past isn’t my lifestyle or identity. I got a new life, a new job, a new everything.
God made Christ to become my shame! Jesus became what my old identity was. He gave me HIS Image, imputed righteousness, so when my creator sees me, I look like what he intended in the Garden of Eden.
That why by faith…We might become the righteousness of God in HIM (Christ) Jesus

The Completion of my past

If I see tomorrow, then that makes today my past. So, How will I live today so tomorrow won’t seem so bad.
God has predestined my future, my faith determines my destination, so if Christ my future looks bright because…
Your scars prove you have a past, but Christ scars prove you have a future
