Waiting in the Water
Notes
Transcript
1 God remembered Noah, as well as all the wildlife and all the livestock that were with him in the ark. God caused a wind to pass over the earth, and the water began to subside. 2 The sources of the watery depths and the floodgates of the sky were closed, and the rain from the sky stopped. 3 The water steadily receded from the earth, and by the end of 150 days the water had decreased significantly. 4 The ark came to rest in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat. 5 The water continued to recede until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were visible. 6 After forty days Noah opened the window of the ark that he had made, 7 and he sent out a raven. It went back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth. 8 Then he sent out a dove to see whether the water on the earth’s surface had gone down, 9 but the dove found no resting place for its foot. It returned to him in the ark because water covered the surface of the whole earth. He reached out and brought it into the ark to himself. 10 So Noah waited seven more days and sent out the dove from the ark again. 11 When the dove came to him at evening, there was a plucked olive leaf in its beak. So Noah knew that the water on the earth’s surface had gone down. 12 After he had waited another seven days, he sent out the dove, but it did not return to him again. 13 In the six hundred first year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the water that had covered the earth was dried up. Then Noah removed the ark’s cover and saw that the surface of the ground was drying. 14 By the twenty-seventh day of the second month, the earth was dry.

Hawaii: A man named Nu-u made a great canoe with a house on it and filled it with animals. In this story, the waters came up over all the earth and killed all the people; only Nu-u and his family were saved.
China: One Chinese legend explains that a flood was caused by an argument between a crab and a bird. Fuhi, his wife, three sons, and three daughters escaped a great flood and were the only people alive on earth. After the flood, they repopulated the world.
Greece: There is more than one Greek flood myth, but the one that most closely corresponds to Noah’s Flood is about Deucalion, who is told to build a chest to survive a flood. Some men on high mountains also survive.
The Babylonian Flood Myth: The Epic of Gilgamesh, a 12-tablet poem, is the most-cited myth people use to discredit the biblical account of Noah.
The tablets were found in the 1850’s but it wasn't until 1872 they were able to decipher from the cuneiform script the words “ The mountain of Nisir stopped the ship. I sent forth a dove, and it left. The dove went and turned, and a resting place it did not find and and it returned. “

Christian Standard Bible Chapter 1
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
Everything was covered with water.
The source of the water depths and floodgate of the sky were closed.
Psalm 104:6–9 “6 You covered it with the deep as if it were a garment; the water stood above the mountains. 7 At your rebuke the water fled; at the sound of your thunder they hurried away— 8 mountains rose and valleys sank— to the place you established for them. 9 You set a boundary they cannot cross; they will never cover the earth again.”
The mountains bust forth of the ground as the lad masses shift and settled. The flood waters covered the mountains
You can find sea shell and sea life fossiles on the tops of mountains.

The Dove - Mean peace, THat now after the flood there and ther dveistaion the is a peace
The first time the dove is let out we see it is like the sipirt in the old testand it goers out in a diffrent mease and returnes to Heaven.
The Second can be like Christ and him coming to the earth and bringin true peace to humanity. He is the prince of Peace and returning to Heaven
The Third is like the New Testament were the Spirit comes and wells with the belivers and will not return until the second coming.
The Olive leaf
The New Manners and Customs of the Bible 8:10–11 “Olive Leaf”
The olive leaf brought by a dove to Noah’s ark signified that the Flood was receding, that God’s destruction of the corrupt people of the earth was completed, and that God’s creation was once more at peace with Him. Today, an olive branch is regarded as a sign of peace, as is the dove, and so the combination of a dove with an olive branch in it’s mouth is often used as a symbol of peace.
