WHAT IS TO BIG FOR THE LORD?

PRAY
What is going on in Numbers 13?
Moses send men to check out the promised land.
See what the land is like
Are the people strong
How many people
Is the land good or bad
Do they have fortifications?
Is the land fertile or unproductive?
Are there trees?
Bring back fruit
“We can’t attack the people because they are stronger than we are!”
“all the people we saw in it are men of great size”
Numbers 13:33 CSB
We even saw the Nephilim there—the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim! To ourselves we seemed like grasshoppers, and we must have seemed the same to them.”
Like grasshoppers!
How hard is it to kill a grasshopper?
How would you feel if you where one of the soldiers?
Numbers 14:1–2 CSB
Then the whole community broke into loud cries, and the people wept that night. All the Israelites complained about Moses and Aaron, and the whole community told them, “If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had died in this wilderness!
broke into loud cries
complained about Moses and Aaron
“If only we had died”
Had they forgot who the LORD is already?
Numbers 14:3–4 CSB
Why is the Lord bringing us into this land to die by the sword? Our wives and children will become plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?” So they said to one another, “Let’s appoint a leader and go back to Egypt.”
What is GOD doing?
Doesn’t the LORD know that we can’t win?
They are going to take are wives and children.
Let just go back to Egypt!
Not sure how they are going to cross the Red Sea because GOD is not in they going back.
They would rather be salves than follow the LORD through something they think can’t be done.
Numbers 14:5–7 CSB
Then Moses and Aaron fell facedown in front of the whole assembly of the Israelite community. Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who scouted out the land, tore their clothes and said to the entire Israelite community, “The land we passed through and explored is an extremely good land.
The leadership is try to show the lsraelites what the LORD has in store for them and yet their fear overcomes their faith.
Extremely good land
This happens now too!
Let go back to a pastor that don’t push us out of our comfort zone.
Numbers 14:8–9 CSB
If the Lord is pleased with us, he will bring us into this land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and give it to us. Only don’t rebel against the Lord, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land, for we will devour them. Their protection has been removed from them, and the Lord is with us. Don’t be afraid of them!”
THE LORD can do this thing!!!!!
“ONLY DON’T REBEL”!!!!
The LORD is with us!
They had every reason to trust the LORD and yet they wanted to go back.
Numbers 14:10 CSB
While the whole community threatened to stone them, the glory of the Lord appeared to all the Israelites at the tent of meeting.
They wanted to kill their leadership.
The LORD had to stop them.
Numbers 14:11–12 CSB
The Lord said to Moses, “How long will these people despise me? How long will they not trust in me despite all the signs I have performed among them? I will strike them with a plague and destroy them. Then I will make you into a greater and mightier nation than they are.”
The LORD did not find this amusing.
How about I just kill them all and start over.
Does the LORD take disobedience seriously?
Why is this message for us?
Romans 8:35–39 CSB
Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: Because of you we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
If GOD is for us who can be against us?
The LORD wants to uses this little church to show people how to crossover from death to life.
We can’t let our fear or are comfort get in the way of the LORD’s plan.
WE NEED TO LET THOSE THING DIE AT THE ALTAR!
