Suffer Well

Introduction: Greeting vs. 1-2
Chosen
Do you know you are chosen?
Romans 8:29 “29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.”
Did you know God pursues you?
God sends you out.
God cleanses you!
Hebrews 12:24 “24 and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.”
Multiplication of Grace and Peace.

Hope

vs. 3-12
Mercy and rebirth.
Titus 3:5 “5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,”
2. Suffering
Priceless Inheritance - Romans 8:18 “18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
How can suffering be good? That’s a strange way to think.
Are you guarded by God’s power?
I have heard that either God is God or He is not. Is His joy our thermometer? John 15:11 “11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”
God’s intent is to bless us. v9

A Call to be Holy

“Be Holy, because I am holy” vs. 13-25
Ready for ACTION, Sober minded.
Share in the glory of Christ! Wait wait…HOW?
Hebrews 2:13 “13 And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again, “Behold, I and the children God has given me.””
Be obedient. Conform to His desires. (former ignorance) This means you don’t know everything. We don’t even know what we don’t know.
2. Have holy conduct. We have holy conduct be studying Jesus’ conduct!
Reverence - Philippians 2:12 “12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,”
Remember our status in this world, we are strangers here. No more evident than this time we are in.
3. READ vs 17-21
How are we redeemed?
What is that redemption worth?
What is our motivation for faith?
4. Purification vs22-25
Truth. How is the truth revealed to you? It is probably different for each one of us.
How do you show that evidence of the truth? Brotherly LOVE! The source?
How does the scripture describe the power of what we are talking? Imperishable, enduring, Gospel!
